Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaAfter taking a shower, the floor is wet throughout the bathroom.
We were a company of four people, the whole apartment was ours, and we didn't have to share it with someone else. Two separate rooms and one living room with a dining table. Good for its' price.

NetherlandsThe ventilation in the older apartment is not that good. It’s at ground floor so I could not open the window during the night, because it’s not safe. And there is no built in- ventilator to clean the air so I woke up with a cough and sore throat.
I liked that it’s an apartment. Sometimes you have the whole apartment to yourself which makes it more comfortable than a hotel - more space to move around. Cook and do grocery shopping and additionally rent a bike making it feel like you are at home.

GermanySome small things in the kitchen: We missed a toaster, and the kettle was not opening anymore after two days.
The room was big enough for two people and had a sofa with a small table and TV, plus two chairs and a desk. Check-in and check-out were easy to do and the price was good!

BelgiumCould be a bit closer to town centre, but the cycle ways to the centre were large and safe. Some info on where to eat at the town centre could have been useful, but we googled it easily.
Ordered at arrival, breakfast was tasty and varied. Accommodation was very good: a small apartment for the 2 of us: of course. Another guest could have shared the apartment, but this was not the case for us! Clean, comfortable, large: we could even keep the bicycles in the hallway. Although not a touristic area of Borlänge, it gave us also an interesting view of today’s Swedish reality. The two women receiving us were very friendly and attentive! We felt very safe and satisfied.

ItalyThe location of the hotel seems to be in the middle of a african refugees district, and we didn't know if it was safe or not to actually stay there - nothing happened but of course we were always doubtful about the area we were living in.
Fast and easy check in / check out - The girls at the reception have been super helpful and always smiling :) Laundry is accessible and for free (dryer included) Location is aprx 20 mins walking from the train station Location is close, aprx 10mins walking, to the shopping center - there are a lot of shops inside and outside (groceries and ikea included) Our room was ok - kitchen and toilet as well.

JapanMaybe it could have included a bit more that needing to clean up by myself even after paying a good amount for the room.
It was pretty to get in and the room was clean and the area was okay in terms of amenities, great for a stay during mid summer.

SwedenI stayed one night, and it had all I needed: a bed, internet, a good shower and a kitchen to prepare for the next day. Even some coffee and filters for the brewer. The apartment is located in a residence area, and I enjoyed watching loads of children playing on the lawns in the warm evening and their mothers going to and from with laundry.

PolandThe area felt a bit depressing - ugly architecture of council flats ugly that seemed to house mostly immigrants - it didn't feel very well integrated. Definitely something outside of power of the accommodation itself but something noticeable when staying in the accommodation and having a walk around. The flat itself was on a ground floor so it felt quite dark.
The host was very accommodating - agreed to get a package delivered to the hostel and allowed to store the bikes securely in the apartment which was very appreciated! We were the only people staying in the apartment that night so we didn't have to share the kitchen or bathroom with other guests. Proximity to a well stocked supermarket and shopping centres if you need to run some errands while in town.

NorwayOur stay at the STF hostel was nothing like we expected. The area was way more lively than anticipated, with kids everywhere and we even witnessed a scene of a dad hitting his daughter with a stick from the kitchen window. Regular patrols by police cars, and one ambulance, added an unexpected criminal atmosphere to our visit. Some of the residents were playing football and yelling until 2 am, so don’t count on the usual quiet hours after 10 pm. It would have been helpful to know more about the hostel’s location and the general vibe of the area beforehand. We do appreciate the unusual experience - even though we didn’t get to sleep as much as we hoped for.
The rooms and kitchen was nice. although the frying pans were really worn and one had grease on it.

Swedenlocated in the middle of a ghetto. People came and knocked on our window, my girlfriend was so scared that we had to rent a new hotel room instead in downtown of Borlänge. The rooms are disgusting not worth the price. I was promised a full refund but only got 50% of what I paid for. Not recommended.
