Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenThe door to the room was not sealed and a lot of mosquitoes and even bees came in. The curtains were also not sealed enough and then when the sun is not exactly setting there is relatively a lot of light entering the room. I will mention that it is a bit difficult to wash the dishes because there is no tap in the room. Filling the water so that you have it in the room can also be a bit burdensome
The location is great! Nice to be near a river. There is a great seating area outside. Very comfortable inside the room it doesn't feel crowded. Using the toilet and shower is very convenient.

JapanI can't say that I dislike, but I would improve things like the height of the water jar inside the room, since that is the only supply of water inside it can be a bit challenging to wash the dishes however if you place something below it makes a difference. The sauna booking method would be easier if the qr was written inside the welcoming letter or instructions instead of the door.
It is a fantastic cozy spot to enjoy the northern lights or an escape from the city, we stayed in hut 1, it was warm inside since we entered, the small kitchen is enough and it is well equipped with oil, salt, pepper, even soy sauce! The staff was super friendly. The shower room was clean and warm as well. You also get access to the sauna that you need to book in advance while you are there.

FranceFor the high price there should be more service. There is no running water in the hut so we had to carry a very large glass jar (fitted with a spicket) to the bathroom to fill each day. It was an awkward procedure in the bathtub and heavy when full and awkward to carry walking down an icy incline. My sister had a bad asthmatic reaction to the lighter fluid provided as a fire starter (normally for outdoor BBQ use) and I had to request a hatchet to make kindling myself and buy some firestarters. It would be a big improvement if each wood rack were completely full upon arrival and if a full bucket of kindling and indoor Firestarter cubes were provided. When I called to request some kindling (because I couldn't use the lighter fluid) I was told to dig around in the woodpile for some bark (at -20C in the dark). At 240 euros per night one might expect an employee to check in each day to see if we needed a water jug, wood, or kindling refill. There did not appear to be an employee on site or even nearby. We had a wonderful time but that has more to do with the natural beauty of the surroundings, the cozy hut and our resourcefulness than with the service provided which is none. I got the impression that the owners are trying to run it by remote-control. It's expensive for a DIY experience. I wouldn't say not to go but be prepared to fend for yourself in the cold and dark.
We loved the cozy hut and the location on the bank of the river. The view was lovely. The place feels remote yet is only 15 to 20 minutes from town. We were lucky to see the Northern lights from our beds. We enjoyed the sauna too. The beds were comfortable and the covers were warm. There was very basic cooking equipment but no forks. The shared bathroom/wc was warm and the water was hot. The whole thing felt rustic and adventurous while being relatively comfortable. Despite the negatives (see below) I would recommend it as a one-time experience.

ThailandThe place is very beautiful, and the hut is adorable. Elin was incredibly supportive; she explained how to watch the northern lights and how to walk on the snow. We were so lucky to have the chance to see the aurora light at this place. We could even see the aurora lights from inside the hut.

United KingdomIt was a bit hard to get to due to its remoteness - we took a bus and then walked with our cases. The river was frozen, so we needed to walk to get things from the shop which was quite far. It cant be helped though - when speaking with the host, we were warned about the distance from shops etc when the river is not frozen. So nothing bad as far as we are concerned about the place :) We would probably hire a car if it wasn't frozen next time.
Great place, lovely and clean and well kept area, good supply of firewood and really responsive hosts. Everything was clean and easy to use and we had a really good view of dark skies for northern lights as it is a remote place.

AustriaCosy warm hut, it was really quiet and remote, perfect place to see the northern lights. Beautiful location. The fireplace outside is a nice addition for those who enjoy cooking/grilling on fire. We were hesitant to book because of the reviews of the shower, but it would have been a big mistake not to stay here. The shower is clean and it was not so inconvenient to go outside, as it’s 5-10 meters away from the huts.

Location is top! There are 3 cabins, we had the one directly to the lake. Cosy atmosphere, we enjoyed a lot ! Barbecue, camp fire, sauna, northern lights on the lake and with nature around, calm, complete autonomy. Was clean. Comfortable beds with direct view to lake and sky !

Hong KongThe hot water in the shared shower runs out rather quickly and takes a long time to boil.
We absolutely love the place! We are a group of 6, so we booked all 3 tents and so we were lucky enough to have the whole campsite to ourselves. The tents are all very nice; simple but delicate at the same time. It’s small but everything we needed was available, incl. salt and olive oil for cooking! We stayed in the beginning of April, missed the northern light just by hours as the night after we checked out had one of the highest index (we also saw on the aurora live webcam site that it was super vibrant); so that was a bit unfortunate. Nevertheless the stay was amazing enough! I would totally recommend this place and if I were to visit Kiruna again in the winter I would definitely come back!

SwitzerlandA bit of warning about the bus - yes you can take it and they are reliable, but make sure you have your stuff in a backpack to carry over the snow! Otherwise the taxi was about £50 from Kiruna.
Absolutely magical experience here. So romantic and cozy, exactly what we were hoping for. The huts are meticulous and everything has been thought about carefully for a great experience. We really enjoyed the DIY edge to things (shared bathroom, get your own water, make your own fire for the sauna) which added to the sense of adventure.

The property was clean spacious and had all the bits you could need. The bed was super comfy and it was very peaceful. There was good WiFi and the kitchenette had everything you could need for a short stay. Firewood was provided for the fireplace which made it very cosy.

Stunning location with the amazing view and a possibility to see northern lights. The hut is very cozy, an authentic experience of a little village life - preparing your own meals, sauna, stove etc. The host is available on the phone at almost any time..

LatviaToo expensive . We paid 1600 euros for 2 days stay for 4 people. The train operator almost cancelled our train back because of too low temperatures (more than minus 40), recommending «stay where you are till became warmer ». It would be too expensive for us to stay 3 more days. We were very lucky that finally the train operator decided to go (the last train before one-super-cold-week). We also hadn’t electricity for about 1-1,5 hours, also because of cold. The fireplace and candles were very helpful.
Nice location, very clean and cosy small houses. Sauna, barbecue place and wood for fireplace are included. Very kind and helpful hosts.

United StatesThe cabins are quite close to each other. The one we were in had no sense of privacy, wasn’t on the lake and there is a shared restroom with no hot water the second day at all.
Our first 3 nights in Kiruna were at Northern Light Camp. The large windows in the facility were great! It was cozy and clean. Northern lights were great!

United StatesOverall everything was great. Only improvement would be a slightly larger shower if possible. But what is there now is enough to get the job done!
Super cute, quiet and peaceful cabin. We were not so lucky to see the northern lights but we did receive snow when we were there that made the surroundings look like we were in a movie! The host was very helpful & nice, informed us of a different route to take to get there (don’t trust the GPS, it takes you down what they call the “old road” and it is most certainly a struggle to go that way)! Very clean property. Perfect place to get away, we would love to go back!
