How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe liked the decor, the convenience of being on the station, the fact that they had a kettle and tea in the room (we're Irish and British) and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
At breakfast there wasn't proper black tea (English breakfast, Darjeeling, Ceylon, etc), but we had some in our suitcase.
Hello Matthew! It was nice having you here! Im sorry you didn´t like our tea selection, but Im thankful for the input and I have now ordered som regular Earl Grey to add to the breakfast buffet! Hope to see you here again, welcome back! Best regards/ Le Ski Lodge

Verified reviewGood breakfast and food in the restaurant. The staff is friendly. Perfect location directly next to the train station. Within minutes you are in the nature and on the hiking trails.

Verified reviewNothing. It was horrible, it is not worth of the money :(.
Fist of all it is not a ski lodge how they call it, it is an old building, which was not renovated for years. I stayed in room nr.2, room was old, dirty, and smelled with kitchen ( like oily smell or whatever). Bad was broken too!Pictures on booking and website do not refers to what actually in that building. I should have drive one more hour to the better place.
Hello Yuriy! Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience, but I don´t entirely understand what you mean with us not being a ski lodge? The building is indeed old, we are very proud to say that this estalishment has been offering food and a bed for the night since 1882. And proud as we are we keep the interior old fashioned and rustique (even though it has of course been renovated many times over these 143 years). All the pictures on the web site are taken in the summer and winter of 2024, after giving the hotel rooms a make over with new wallpaper etc. We are sorry to hear this style didn´t accomodate your needs and expectations. I can also see that you gave the location 5/10 even though we are in the center of Storlien and next to the train station and you mention travelling for an hour extra to a better place, so maybe your plan was to stay in the urban center Åre, while we are in the larger municipality of Åre but located in the village of Storlien. Best regards, Le Ski Lodge

Verified reviewVery atmospheric establishment. Bedrooms were perfectly adequate, food is exceptional. The BBQ buffet on the Friday evening was just delightful.
Just be aware that there is music until very late on a Friday and Saturday evening.
Hi Kathryn, nice to hear that you enjoyed our ski season- traditional Friday BBQ :) Hope to see you again next season! Best regards/Frida

Verified reviewGreat location for mountain hiking and wildlife. Comfy bed. Cute little bedroom in a historic building.
Room and en-suite require a little bit of maintenance. I personally didn’t need a disco in the evening while eating my dinner. Overall nothing too bad to say though.

Verified reviewThis is a characterful place to stay, an old wooden building with a hotel, bar, restaurant and, in some seasons, a casino. My room was quiet, despite a fairly busy bar elsewhere in the building. The wood-lined bedroom was comfotable, clean and warm, the bathroom had all that was needed, including ample hot water. A kettle and the ability to make tea was appreciated. The wi-fi worked well. Breakfast was good and greatly appreciated in an area with no obvious alternatives nearby. The location could not be more convenient for someone with no car. It is literally on the railway station. At the moment ( September 2024) there is no train to Trondheim but the relacement bus service works well.
Nothing really.

Verified reviewThe building was very, very old, and nothing had been done to make the customer feel comfortable there. It was not possible to get soap/shampoo in the bathroom because the dispenser was also very old. In addition, the lock on the bathroom door had been broken several times, and it could be seen from the door. Scratch marks on the door. Namely, the lock broke again when I locked the door from the inside while going to the bathroom. My husband tried to get me out of there for 1.5 hours. He only got 2 screwdrivers from the reception and no other help from the staff. Nobody cared that the lock was broken and the customer was locked in the bathroom. Using a hair dryer, it was not possible to do it near a mirror. Because the contact was simply not there. If the place to stay costs that much, you would expect comfort and cleanliness.

Verified reviewThe hotel is actually at the premises of the station, closer you can't get to the train. It is kind of a weird experience to enter it: dark brown, wooden interior, colourful wall paper, wildlife hanging all over the place, a cow skin on doors. Special! The room was spacious, with couch, TV and good bed. The shower could have been somewhat wider though. Good is to have the restaurant on stairs down, good pizza. Good breakfast too. Storlien is a typical border town, with a customs office at the highway, a large supermarket for the neighbours and just outside of it a wonderful mountain area. In winter time probably more lively.
Almost no space for a shower

Verified reviewThis is a very authentic wooden hotel from the 1880's. It oozes atmosphere, and is located right next to the station. There was insect gauze in the window to keep the midges out. Breakfast was good and the staff are friendly. The hotel is good value for money, by Swedish standards. An extra point for letting me have the room already in the morning, when I arrived on the early train from Trondheim.
No lift, so I had to lug my bag up the stairs. The room was smallish, with too many doors that clash into each other. The bathroom is tiny as well. There was a noisy fan right outside the bedroom window.

Verified reviewThe Ski Lodge is a blast from the past but the staff and the food were both excellent.
The air conditioning unit (or maybe extractor fan?) for the kitchen was very noisy but, having said that, this is only a oroblem if the bedroom window is open (and a lot of the time it probably isn't).

Verified reviewI really liked the combination of hotel, restaurant, pub en casino. Located in a very old wooden building at the train station close to the Norwegian border. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was nice with a very nice selection of Swedish craft beers. I visited the place in winter with many snow and this was very charming. In some reviews is mentoined that it was very noisy at night, I had not experienced this. Great breakfast, fresh, healthy and tasty stuff. I recommend.
The bathroom could use an upgrade, but was cleane and functional.
