Best and most beautiful b&b I've ever went to. Stunning views. Friendly taxi boat who brought us back to Vaxholm in the morning a bit cheaper than the ferry we took the evening before.

The location is great. I had a lovely room overlooking the water with an old tiled stove (not functioning). It was clean and warm and very comfortable. The breakfast was good and the check in with a code for the door was easy. I very much enjoyed my stay and would stay again. There was a small sitting room in the annex, which was nice. This is a comfortable hotel, not a luxury hotel. I liked the quirkiness of the accomodation.

There were no towels - paper or cloth in any of the bathrooms. I know we had towels in the rooms, but I didn't always remember to take it. I was in the annex of 5 rooms. There were no glasses in the room or the bathroom to take a drink of water. There were no tea or coffee facilities. There was 1 toilet and 1 bathroom with a shower between the 5 rooms, some of which had 3 or more beds in them. It wasn't a problem when I was there, but it could be. This is a comfortable hotel, not a luxury hotel. There was one coat hanger in the room, and 1 set of drawers. There was no wardrobe.

    Beautiful location

Logistics need to be thought out in advance to and from island. No staff to speak of.

It’s really nice alternative hotel, in the castle. For one night it was really nice and had good variety of food in the breakfast. On the island it has a real interesting museum. If you have SL card you don’t need to pay for the boat from Vaxholm and back, but you have to schedule it because it’s not that often.

Our room it was next to the toilet and you could hear the people open and close the door during the night

It was lovely and quiet in the castle at night and it was very fun to stay in a castle. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were invisible and efficient. I didn't interact with anyone, not at check in or check out, but everything was ready and clean. The food at breakfast kept being topped up and cleared up. It was quite remarkable.

Do be aware that you need to get another ferry from Vaxholm to the castle. This isn't a bad thing, just an fyi. We brought everything we needed for a picnic dinner on the island which was actually magical.

    Very quiet and peaceful location

Didn't realise wasn't part of the mainland so was very expensive to keep travelling there and back. We are a family of 4 so it was about £35 return trip each time. It wasn't very clear that this was going to be the case. We definitely won't be returning for3ngts again.

    Property response:

Thank you for your feedback! We’re sorry to hear that the travel costs came as a surprise. Just so you know for the future – if you're visiting the Stockholm area, you can travel to and from many nearby islands using SL public transport, which includes ferries. With an SL card (travel pass), you can travel at no extra cost on ferries that are part of the SL network. There are different types of SL tickets available depending on how long you stay: 24-hour pass 72-hour pass 7-day pass Or single tickets, valid for 75 minutes and usable across all SL services (buses, trains, metro, and certain ferries). The fare you mentioned (approximately £35 for a round trip for four people) does not match the standard SL pricing, so it's likely that a non-recommended or private transport option was used instead. SL tickets offer a much more affordable and convenient way to travel around Stockholm and the nearby archipelago areas. We hope this information will be helpful if you decide to return in the future!

Location in old castle is excellent. Room was nice, simple, one small window to the sea. Toilets are in corridor, clean. Breakfast was fine, no excess, but we were happy with it. No services in the evening, so take own picnic with, very nice to sit outside at the water in the evening.

Room was not cleaned in detail, some leftovers under beds from earlier customer, towels forgotten day one, day two we got them. Boat trip, though very short, was challenging to get reliable information. First evening the boat operator had technical problems and cancellations. Phone service queu over 40mins!!! We got help from very kind locals boating us over with their private boat.

What fun to stay in an old fortress! An unusual location and space, but good. The rooms are lovely and we had a sea view which was great! Breakfast was simple, but plentiful and tasty. Beautiful breads!!! And fridge space was handy too. The ferries needed a bit of planning, but were regular and easy, so we didn't need to use the taxi boats which was great.

I hadn't clocked shared showers and toilet facilities - it wasn't an issue, but worth others knowing before they book to say. And there were no in room tea/coffee making facilities which is unusual these days. There were facilities downstairs to make drinks with your own ingredients - which again, is useful to know BEFORE you get there.

The venue is impressive and the room was cosy and atmospheric. It was fun catching the boat and being in the fortress overnight

The bathrooms were clean and spacious. Maybe if more people were staying there could be a wait.
