Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaFrom my point of view only two thinks: 1. missing shower (I solved that I wash in the lake with bucket of hot water) and 2. missing small table in house.
Very small and cozy hobit house for maximum 1 or 2 person with sofa in the middle. Include, fridge, kettle, radiator and other thinks you need to stay. None luxury accommodation, but for simply travelers, exactly very good. Near is lumberyard with WC and washbasin with hot/cold water.

GreeceWc is few meters away of the hut warm and clean, no shower but it's fine for a short stay.
The location is very nice, many activities available, the little hobbit hut was cozy, clean, warm and comfy. It's a nice place to see the northern lights just a step from the lake!

SwedenIt was very clearly communicated that a shower was not available, but that would have made the stay a 10/10
Beautiful location by the lake, so we enjoyed fantastic views and lovely peace and quiet. The hut and the separate bathroom were clean and the hosts helped us arranged the dog sledding tour, amazing!

GermanyThe only downside, which isn’t the camp’s fault, is that the accommodation is quite remote. However, this is a matter of perspective—we actually loved it! The only challenge was figuring out how to get into town or elsewhere. Luckily, there is a bus nearby, so with a little planning, it’s not a problem at all!
We had a fantastic time at this beautiful lakeside retreat! The location was perfect, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, especially in wintertime. The activities were well-organized and so much fun, from dog sledding to a snowmobile tour. A special highlight was the super friendly host, Stefan, who made us feel welcome from the start. Our accommodation, the Hobbit Hut, was really cute and comfortable. Although it only had a bed, a small fridge and a microwave, it came with everything we needed (plates, forks, etc.). This was clearly mentioned beforehand, so we came prepared. We can’t wait to return!

United KingdomThe hut is rather small - smaller than it looks on the photos - the sofa bed takes up a lot of the space available. There was also a problem with the door - it was difficult to close it properly.
The location - between a lake and the woods - was superb, and incredibly peaceful. We loved having our own cozy little hut - a wonderful first taste of the Arctic! The host (Stefan) was very helpful and friendly, and our dogsledding tour was very well organised and hugely enjoyable.

SloveniaA shower could be installed, since the room with toilet is big enough.
Hobbit hut is a cozy little cottage, directly in front of the lake. Great value for money. It has a little fridge, plates, cutlery, a microwave and a waterboiler. The toilet is a few meters away from the hut. To note, the toilet has no shower, we knew that, so we came prepared. the fire pit is a great place to hand out and watch the aurora from. Stefan was very kind and helpful.

IndonesiaStaying at Camp Caroli in Kiruna was like stepping into a winter wonderland, but with the warmest welcome you could imagine, all thanks to Stephen, our host. He's not just friendly; he goes out of his way to make sure you have an amazing time. On the safari tour, we spotted some incredible wildlife. And Stefan even showed us around the upcoming Camp Caroli 2.0, which sounds like it's going to be an epic place for family fun under the aurora. Honestly, if you're after the best aurora views, this is where you want to be.

ChinaThe place is right near the lake and it's all covered by snow in winter time, like a wonderland. Stefan and Amanda were very helpful and responded in a timely manner to my questions. The little cozy hut is nice, warm, and clean. Although without toilet inside it's just a few walks away so no problem for me at all. There is no public transportation from the airport or the train station which can take you there so you need to communicate in advance about pick up (extra fee). And if you intend to rent a car you also need to communicated in advance as there is very limited space for parking. 4KM away from the Icehotel and the Church of Jukkasjarvi/Sami Museum (with Reindeer). The activities they helped to book were all enjoyable and fun-most importantly, professional and safe.

SwitzerlandThe location for sure is very difficult to get to. There’s no bus stop or similar close to it, so the best is to have your own car. Else you take a taxi or the transfer offered by the camp (70€). This also means to make sure to bring food with you. The camp doesn’t offer food and without a car you can’t go to the supermarket. Stefan was so kind to take me to the supermarket. Be prepared of life in the woods!
You feel like in a fairlytale sleeping in that Hut. It’s peaceful, calm and warm. Everything was clean, be aware that your private bathroom is 20 meters from the hut. The staff was very nice and lovely, I had great talks, thanks for that! I took two tours: snowmobile and dogsledding. In both they give you warm clothes and make sure you won’t feel cold. We drove through forests, it was very idyllic. It’s worth taking a tour!

United KingdomI was aware of the no shower situation before booking, we stayed for 4 nights but anything longer and I would have needed one.
The hut was right next to the frozen lake which had the most amazing views of the northern lights when they were viable. It was so peaceful and quiet, I would recommend having a vehicle as it makes things easier, but I do believe they offer pick ups and drop offs. The trips we booked with stefan with perfect and he is an amazing host

Czech RepublicHobbit Hut is a romantic place, small but we got what we expected. Ideal for one or two nights to watch Northern lights. We were lucky and first night we had spectacular view on sky full of stars, half moon and Northern lights. Thanks to Stefan and Jonathan we had beautiful stay full of activities on snow. Wish to come back.
