Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe facility management could have better communications. Our first day of stay spent great deal of efforts trying to figure out how things work at the apartment, because it is hard to see a live person reception. It is a multiple guest groups shared appartment. Just like playing the 'escape room' - we were provided with some info but incomplete instructions. No proper receptions. The only person we met on the first day only showed us where to find the showers, and he disappeared for the rest of the days. In order to get into the apartment building on the 1st day, we spent 20 mins on the phone with booking.com because of the confusing instruction for accessing the property in a large building and looking for a safe place to drop off luggage. Even the person on the phone didn't understand how to find the balcony as instructed by a text message from the property owner, so he suggested we just left all luggage next to the elevator. Another example is for wifi password, the instruction on the wall says 'see bed'. The paper on the bed says nothing about it. But we accidentally found the instruction board on the stove gives the wifi password. Guests have to learn and teach each other how to serve themselves for handling food, kitchen, trash, used utensils and plates.....And we received an anxious email with an exclamation mark to question us why we did not to make payment on site and a not so friendly "reminder" of a fine. The truth is no one showed up on site to collect money and a 2nd truth is we paid the full amount to the web page link provided in one of their text messages, but they didn't check there first. This has been the most struggling communication among all of our hotels and B&B stays in so many years of traveling.
Provided a portable air conditioner. Close to public transportation and restaurants. Walking to the art museum and attractions. 24 hours drinks and snacks.

SwedenWe were surprised that there was shared bathroom and toilet. It was not a problem as the other guests were very respectful. It was just not clear when we booked.
Very nice atmosphere. Good value for money with parking and snacks available included in the rate. Accommodating owners.

NorwayThe communication was sometimes a bit confusing. They should consider having a little pamphlet or something, rather than a lot of information posted in different places.
It is important to note that this is note a hotel, but rather somewhere between a B&B and a hostel, in what feels like a home. You will also have to share bathroom / toilet with other guest. If you take that into consideration, it is a lovely place, and the availability of gaming consoles make it perfect for people travelling with children. The self-serve breakfast is also nice, although nothing advanced; the availability to eat whenever you wanted is great, though.

DenmarkAn extra table with chairs would have been appreciated as all the guest decided to have breakfast almost at the same time.
The while apartment was great, kids loved the bedroom and the common living room. Even though there was no personal there and you have to do all by yourself it was clearly explained what needed to be done. Loved also the decoration.

United KingdomThe room was a bit weird. Bed was pretty rubbish and the bedroom window was blacked out with the back of an enormous tv which wasn't at all what it looked like in the pictures, and made the room feel a bit oppressive.
Self service breakfast was great, really convenient with kids. Communal space with board games was fantastic. Kitchen clean, nice and clean everywhere actually. Kids LOVED the lego and the nintendo. Location great.
