Dear Leonel, let's be honest, your review is a lie. And just so you don't scare our future guests away and because we cannot get any help from customer support to delete your comment we will explain what actually happened. From now on we will not address you but our future guests, cause we have nothing to do with you anymore. The guest above doesn't speak english, and at first we thought is a misunderstanding, but now we see it is just bad intentions from the guests side. Anyways, he got a confirmation mail from booking.com that says that payment is done UPON ARRIVAL, since we do not have the option to charge online. Usually, if there is a confusion about it, we offer the guest to sit down, check their payment history and then they realise that the accommodation wasn't paid for. This particular guest was one of them, but for some reason he didn't believe to : 1. his payment history, 2. our staff member, 3. Booking.com itself - since he reported us and said we double charged him. After they explained to him that we never charge online, he still didn't believe it and decided to leave untruthful and extremely damaging review not mentioning the real issue - cause if he did mention the situation it would be instantly proven as a lie and hence possible to remove. So he went on with other untruthful claims that we cannot disregard. 1. Our bathrooms are regularly cleaned, bins are emptied all the time, we have no problem with bad smell or maintenance or what so ever. It is clear that you just copied that from the only other bad review we have. If anyone feels conflicted by this review and think that maybe it is true, feel free to contact us, we will provide you with real time photos as a proof, since we cannot upload them in the reply section. 2. The bed sheets are fairly new from IKEA. If that was not up to standard to our sophisticated guest we are so sorry. But nothing wrong with IKEA bedding, we are sure that most of the people have them at their households for every day use. 3. This is probably the biggest lie in this review, Our staff members speak at least 3 languages each. We deal with people that do not speak english often, and with people that don't speak OUR language - EVERYDAY!!!!! Our staff member who greeted the guest tried to talk to the guest in his native language to make it easier, and the staff member that escorted the guest from the hostel spoke to him in his native language/spanish as well. We hope our future guests will understand that sometimes people unfortunately want to do damage to small business just because they think they can. We were deeply disturbed by this horrible review and we can only say that we will keep up with good work and hope we will be able to host everyone who wants to have a true "a home away from home" experience. Dear Elisa, thank you for your stay and feed back. Some things that we wanted to address here are: 1. You were here during a very busy weekend, we were fully booked and everything was kept tidy and clean, but it is not possible to take care about every guest whereabouts and immediately clean after them. So staying in the hostel means that unfortunately, if the guest right before you was very messy and you don't give us opportunity to come and tidy up, you will walk in straight into that mess. 2. Our private room regular weekend rate is approximately 50/60eur. Your room was discounted for more than 15eur so we think you got pretty good deal. The room you stayed at had two single beds, two lockers, shoe shelf, comfy chair and big mirror, realistically there is not enough space for a table if you want to avoid having a cramped up room. Other private room/ with one big bed has a table for example, cause there is enough space for it 3. The building we are in is from 1920s, some might call it old, but we believe the right term is historical. Which means that there is only so much you can change about it, some things have to be preserved as they are. All the best, Hostel Bongo team

Dear Maria, thank you for your stay. The dishwasher is actually very rare thing in hostels, and most of the places ask you to clean after yourself. Also, what is most important, all of our rooms have AC so our guests can cool off, the common areas that are not covered with an AC have working fans. EDIT: the one AC that was broken is fixed, so now the whole hostel is covered

Hi Francisco, thanks for your input. If the bed light did not work the only reason could be the light bulb, so if you noticed that you should`ve told us so we could change it while you were still here. There is a lot of things happening at the hostel at all times, so unfortunately it happens to oversee some details, although we are always trying hard to check every little thing. When you booked the bed you got an automatic message with detail explanation why there is no sign and how to find us. We are in the heart of the city, in historical building so we cannot just put signs and lights as we please. All the best :)

Hi Rodrigo, in case you saw something as broken light, all you had to do is to let us know so we can change the bulb and the whole thing would be solved in no time. That is why we encourage our guests to talk to us and let us know, so if we didn't se that the bulb is done, there are no batteries in the remote or similar, we can fix it right away and we can all continue with our day . Also, it was Saturday night, Belgrade is famous for a great night life, but also, our guests usually do not staz after midnight in hostel in general, so if it was later than that maybe you just happened to be there for someones birthday or very special occasion. 99% of the time is usually very calm and quiet here

Hi Julian! We just need to correct you on one thing you said. The heating is completely functional in room you stayed at. There is a heater and an AC unit. Both of them working, if you were not sure how to turn it on all you had to do is come to the front desk and ask one of the staff members. All the best!
