Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Nestled in Transylvania, this restored set of Castles and the enormous estates & forest around it are a true natural paradise. Food was excellent as was the service. We stayed in one of the restored rooms of the Machine Room full of old world charm. They also have newly constructed rooms. We had wonderful bear sightings with the Ranger from the Estate

Czech RepublicMy dad was attacked by the dogs (not belonging to the property) while walking around. But I definitely understand that this is a common issue in Romania, especially in areas with pastures where shepherds’ dogs roam freely.
Booked on behlaf of my parents - based on their testimony, all was amazing. Very nice location, friendly stuff, good food and rooms are just amazing.

United KingdomThe pricing was a bit steep - we had to pay extra for every small thing, from using the spa to having breakfast. This was not clear when making the booking. As a result, this was a more expensive stay than we had planned.
Beautiful estate, old-fashined luxury. The staff are helpful and accommodating, the grounds beautiful, and the rooms very comfortable. The comfort of the beds and the high specification of the bathroom were a particularly highlight. Although the decor is old fashioned, this is stylised, and certainly not shabby, but instead very thoughtfully done.

SingaporeToo many dogs on the property which didn’t belong to the property apparently, making it difficult to move across freely. Lack of pool. Small stones walkway making difficult to move the bags on the wheels to the room (and damaging for the bags also) and no help provided. Staff had little knowledge about surrounding areas and attraction points. No fruits for breakfast. Black running water at some points probably due to old pipes.
Secluded magical Transylvanian castel vibes with excelent food and nice garden.

United KingdomUnfortunately I had booked Zabola as I wanted to do a horse ride. This was cancelled on the morning due to the weather. Whilst it had been raining overnight, the morning itself was dry and bright, so the cancellation was disappointing. I think other riding centres would have proceeded in these weather conditions.
The room was beautiful and it had lovely touches including chocolates. The check in was quite straightforward (though you need to telephone for reception). The restaurant staff were attentive and polite, and the food was good quality. The grounds are pleasant to walk around.

Romaniausage of electronic cigarettes in the restaurant was not prohibited (or ban was not enforced).
A visit to Zabola estate will make you believe that social inequalities makes sense. You will get a glance of the slow life, tranquility and relaxation that history provided for a few. I believe the estate its one of the most beautiful domain in Romania, available for public usage, essentially it is a huge park, with multiple ponds, picnic areas, horses, sauna in the forest, etc There is an intended presence of old, of wood and squeakiness.

RomaniaWould have loved a more varied menu. Also, it was odd that water was not included in the breakfast (especially since our understanding was that the property has its own drinking water source).

RomaniaThe waiter (the one with earrings) was rude; he barely greeted us when we entered the restaurant. He did not bring the menu to the table even after 10 minutes of waiting and I had to go and ask him. His answer was: do you have a reservation? - the restaurant was empty. Food is very expensive and not diverse at all. Poor breakfast and you are not informed that coffee or juice is not included - you just pay it at checkout. A lot of spider webs in every corner. If you are not careful with the fireplace and wood gets near the edge, smoke will come into the room and it will not be a pleasure to sleep.

RomaniaNothing that we can think of
We enjoyed very much the “live at a castle” experience and the most attractive things for us was the fireplace. We adored to make the fire, hear the crackling noise and talk and laugh near it. The room was super spacious, very tidy and had everything that we needed for our stay. For sure we will be coming back, either during the summer or again during the winter, but with snow hopefully

RomaniaThe food menu had only few options and they weren’t that tasty. The prices are too high for the quality that they offer. The waiters seem like they don’t really want to be there, no smile and 0 interaction with customers. Cleaning can be improved. There was a lost of dust on the floor,I noticed it when my toddler was playing on it. The cleaning ladies though are very nice and open to my suggestions.
I do like the location and the overall vibe and I appreciate the upgrade that they offered us. It s our 3 rd visit to Zabola Estate.

RomaniaThe breakfast buffet was not great. Three years ago you could choose from breakfast options and there would also be drinks included (coffee, tea etc). Now all drinks are for extra pay. One weird aspect is that on the last day of our stay there was no breakfast buffet and the same options as before were severely overpriced (double the price for the same meals as the other days of our stay). The floors in the room were squeaking. The shower head was not functioning properly. It should be changed.
