“We loved having a real Japanese experience. The town of Mashiko is amazing if you love pottery and being next to a pottery studio was an amazing experience.”
“Very nice owner and staff. Warm welcome. Easy walking distance to the main sights, and a short bus ride from both of the two Nikko train stations (which themselves are nearly adjacent to one another). The breakfast was well-prepared, with fresh fruit, an egg, some bread, etc., and was a supplemental cost (there are no dinner options, but several restaurants nearby). The western-style room I had was comfortable and everything was very clean. The style of the entire place is charming and somewhat 'retro'. There are two small onsen which guests can use privately. It was easy to leave luggage after checkout, and on check-in my room was ready so I could enter it early. I'd recommend walking through the 'abyss' (a scenic section of the river that runs adjacent to the inn).”
“A great budget option overlooking the town. Scrupulously clean, pleasant, helpful staff, and the owner speaks reasonable English (and certainly much better than my Japanese !). Beautifully prepared and inexpensive food.”
“We stayed at the house overlooking the river and loved it. The kids went upstairs and were impressed by all the cuteness.
A very cozy but spacious enough home.
Walking distance from both train stations and main town with busstop nr.3 and family market.
Waking up with drip coffee at the riverside just from our doorstep made my holiday after all the city vibes.
The owners were amazing too. Full of tips and prepared a hand written map for us. Nikko is a power spot. The trees!
And nice and cooler in summer than the cities.
We hiked from yamoto onsen south (downhill) the 6.2km hike. Very beautiful falls and hike through the wetlands.”
“Very clean cabin with extremely kind and accommodating hosts! The cabin has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Very close to many attractions too. Even though we stayed during summer, there were no insects inside the house. A fantastic stay and we will definitely stay again if we have the chance!”
“Hiro, the host, was a very charming gentleman who could not have done more for us, even driving us to the restaurant that he recommended (Zion - also superb - we went twice!!).”
“The beds were comfortable, there were lockers for valuables and the sitting are next to the dorm was nice.
The staff were friendly and showed me different attractions on a map.
Good location in proximity to many attractions. There is also a supermarket nearby, very convenient!”
“- incredibly beautiful room and terrace. Very cute, comfortable and romantic :)
- deer in the morning and in the evening was a plus
- very nice Japanese breakfast with a full explanation of each little plate
- excellent host. Izumi was very helpful and polite. He picked us up and took us to the station. Book a restaurant for us. Helped us find the best routes for our hikes. Very sweet and hard working!”
