“Located right on the Camino (okay, about 20 metres off the camino route), but near enough. Reception is bar/restaurant area.
Couldn't 100% recommend the restaurant itself but I did get a decent Caldo Gallegas (Basically local soup of green veg and a bit of potato/white bean affair).
You are going to be pathetically grateful for anything after flogging yourself 700m vertical metres up from Vega de Valcarse.
Plenty of other restaurants in town though.”
“Well located for the Camino.
The downstairs restaurant was very popular and I had easily the best 'Tarta de Santiago' of the whole trip as part of the Fixed Menu. And an entire bottle of house wine too.
Cracking value compared to Portomarin the previous day.”
“Check-in staff were wonderful and very helpful.
Apparently there is a breakfast available in the basement area for a few euros but I made do with a Mars bar and a banana from the supermarket.
Free coffee and muffins also in reception area. So basically breakfast is sorted anyway.
Also, although downhill away from centre of town, it means a nice easy start in the morning because you just continue down the hill to join with the Camino route.”
“Check-in was excellent.
I got lucky in that I arrived at the same time as a couple who had clearly organised an early check-in and the check-in/cleaning lady took pity on me because I was soaked after three hours in the rain.
Most welcome shower in years. Powerful too compared to many of the asthmatic efforts at some of the more 'cost effective' options.
Very good value. Clean, tidy and well located.”
“Super clean room, shower and toilets. Very comfortable bed, I sleep ten hours without waking up. The view from window and balcony is also super and the host are very friendly.”
“Lucked in with an early check-in after another three hour march in the pouring rain. I was either soaked through with rain or sweat (since I'd been wearing a poncho).
Owner took pity on me and gave me a room as soon as it became available.
Superb shower, superbly appointed room.
And, complete bonus, they have an included breakfast with a sister restaurant that had me absolutely stuffed the next morning. Normally I have a fairly light breakfast, but the following four hour walk was turbo-charged so maybe I should eat bigger breakfasts in future.”
