  • “We stayed at Hotel Château De Grunstein and really enjoyed the experience. The château itself is beautiful, and we chose one of the gîte-style holiday apartments. While the room was a bit smaller than I expected, it was very comfortable, with a large, soft bed. The kitchen was fully equipped — pots, pans, cutlery, electric stove, microwave, oven, small fridge, washing machine, kettle, toaster, and a Nespresso coffee machine. The hosts provided a few laundry pods and Nespresso-compatible coffee capsules to get you started, but it’s worth bringing your own or buying more at a nearby supermarket if you plan to stay longer. The bathroom was spacious, with both a shower and a large bathtub featuring jacuzzi-like jets — perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day. Outside, the private terrace with seating and a grill was a lovely bonus. Another big plus, especially for summer in Europe, is the modern air conditioning in the room. Inside the château, there is also a fridge with soft drinks and local wines available for purchase. Parking is free and available inside the château grounds. Just note that it’s better to enter from the main southern gate, as the northern back entrance is very narrow for larger cars (Google Maps tends to direct there automatically). The location is good — about 30 minutes drive from Colmar — making it a great base for day trips around the Alsace region. The village itself is small and quiet, with little to do in the immediate surroundings. It’s not a luxury stay, but it perfectly captures the rural atmosphere of the area and offers very good value for money. It’s a great choice for couples looking to enjoy the region in a relaxed and authentic way.”

  • “Absolutely great! It's clean and cosy, and it's in a very quiet location on the wine route. The breakfast was wonderful (plentiful and made with homemade products). The owners were excellent communicators, open and friendly, and always willing to advise or recommend places to see or visit in the area. It was a pleasure to chat with them!”

“An old chalet, close to the castle. A lovely porter who also served us breakfast. He may not be a real professional, but it’s so sweet to see someone trying their best. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. And the magical view from the windows!!”

“The host is very nice. The house is relatively close to the airport, so it's a good choice if you have to catch a flight next day”

“This place is something very special in the heart of Strasbourg, with a wonderful, lovely owner who did everything to make us feel most welcome. The breakfast is amazing - something you would not even get in a six star hotel!”

  • “The flat was nice.”

“Right next to Marienthal Train Station which is only 30 mins on the train from Strasbourg. So you can visit Strasbourg without the pain of driving in the city ! Approximately 5 mins away from Hageneau (reasonably big town with restaurants) by train or 10 minutes by car. The railway line has no freight services or passenger services after 22.00 so then all is very quiet, until the neighbours cockerel wakes up ! The garden is massive. The family dog is friendly ! The shared toilet / bathroom is excellently appointed. The additional paid breakfasts were fine !”
