“I booked this accommodation for my young daughter who has moved to Calgary from Australia. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodated her extremely well. She felt completely safe, welcomed and she couldn't have wanted anything more. All of this of course is relief to a parent on the other side of the world. Unfortunately we don't come from a 'tipping' culture and so we probably dropped the ball on not rewarding the staff financially. Anyone that is looking for accommodation I can tell you that Sandman were excellent.”
“I was put in a lovely room that was overlooking the city with a view of CN tower. 16th floor. The room was probably one of the biggest hotel room I've ever been to. Extremely spacious. I've booked only for two nights to have some rest before flight home.
The hotel has parking and is nicely situated close to main arteries going in and out of downtown. I was bit affraid of navigating the downtown but it turned out to be super easy.
The beds were huge and rather soft but that is usually the case with hotel room beds, still pretty comfy. The breakfast was nice and it was restaurant style - where I'd select a menu each morning (as opposed to bufet style) still the portions were good size.
The location of the hotel is also pretty good. On the map it might look as it's on the edge of downtown, but downtown Calgary si actually rather small so for me, the location couldn't have been more perfect (especially as I avoided the down town traffic coming in).
Staff was nothing but welcoming everytime I interacted with them.”
“The breakfast was nice with lots of selections. They had eggs, pancakes, sausages and cereals and pastries and yogurts so lots to choose from. Staff was friendly and room was clean. Room was quiet.”
“I was pleasantly surprised. The bed was very comfy and the blanket was very very long. I like to sleep covered head to toe and I am about 180cm and their blankets allowed me to do that. There are two or three electrical outlets per bed and they even have USB connectors directly on those outlets.
Bathroom and sink en suite. 6 beds per room - pretty nice, especially for the price.
The breakfast was insteresting mix, muffins, boiled eggs, toasts, jams and pickled fruit, and possibility make pancakes, oats, dairy and non dairy milk, coffee and orange juice. I particularly liked the pickled fruit as it was a nice source of sugary calories.
What I really liked was the location. It is on the Banff Avenue, but further away from the main bustling part of it so it was nice and calm throughout the day.
Their bar also offered a choice of pub food (tacos, burger, etc) and they were able to substitute fries for salad for example so that was nice. I took advantage of that and ate there few times because it was convenient and the burger was actually pretty nice.
The bar was pretty busy during the evenings but I rooms were quiet.”
