Absolutely romantic and beautiful garden accommodation. In a quiet quaint and historical village. You see these types of homes in movies, and staying here you feel like you have taken back a step in time. The hosts are wonderful and check on you each day personally. Breakfast thought through and delicious. We will absolutely come back again for this experience.

We have stayed at hundreds of resorts, hotels, villas, Airbnbs, etc. and this was hands down the most exceptional, beautiful and perfect place we have ever stayed! Beautiful, spacious, well designed and stylish apartment in a century old villa in a lovely village. Perfect place to visit the western part of the island, and we also used it as our base to actually visit the whole island. Monique was really responsive and helpful in arranging any needs arose, from laundry to renting the car of the villa. The guide book Monique prepared for the visitors is an excellent piece of art, giving hints and suggestions for how to use the apartment, what to do in the nearby area, and the must-to-visit places on the whole island! Thank you, Monique, for all! You made our stay unforgettable!

What a perfect place. 10/10 recommend. If and when we go to Sao Miguel again we will be staying here. The suite exceeded all expectations- spacious bedroom, bathroom and living/ dining/ kitchen prep area with all amenities necessary. Super professional, detailed, friendly, accessible and experienced host Monique. The guide book and recommendations were brilliant and super useful. Breakfast was delicious (addictive… I miss it already) and well worth it. The location is quaint and quiet with fantastic access to a beautiful part of the island which is much less busy/ touristy. The place is stunning and historical. We visited in January, the room was comfortable, nice and warm - which is hard to come by (especially in older architecture in Portugal - let me tell you!).

Guests should be aware there is no AC. It was cool enough to not be a bother, and they brought a fan when I inquired.

One of the most incredible and homey places I’ve stayed! Every detail was well thought out, terrific guide book with tips and instructions, and impeccably cared for. Lots of space and beautiful garden. Even had a little picnic basket to take to watch sunset on the hill. I even forgot something at checkout and they contacted me to retrieve it.

During our stay at Villa Varzea in Sao Miguel island, we found the apartment to be excellent. It was spacious, well-designed, and fulfilled our needs. The guide handbook provided was informative and helped us navigate the island's attractions. The check-in process was efficient and hassle-free.
