Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaLisboa is the city of 7 hills. This apartment is in a very uneven area, so getting there from the train station with the luggage was a little bit challenging. The place doesn’t have a lot of natural light but plenty of artificial around the apartment.
The apartment was very well decorated, clean and comfortable for a family of 4. It has everything that you need with a large and well equipped social area. The two bathrooms was a total plus to speed up morning rush and it close to several city landmarks

United KingdomSituated in a quiet corner of Alfama, a truly unique apartment with individual, spectacular decor. João’s artwork is incredible. Everything you need is nearby with some great bars and restaurants and you’re only 15 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon’s centre. Perfect hosts (João and Eugenia) with great communication ahead of the holiday and a quick, slick check in.

IrelandThe kitchen is a bit tired but it is fine. One of the single beds is a bit basic for an adult but also fine.
A great location - very central and well connected with easy access to restaurants and sights. We had a great time. The apartment is very spacious - plenty of room for 4 people.

NetherlandsIt’s a small street and quite steep (like everywhere in Lisbon) so parking is a bit challenging.
Great location in Alfama and close to lots of nice restaurants. The apartment is spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. And communications was easy and friendly with the host.

SpainNothing at all.
This is one of the best accomodations we have had the opportunity to be in our entire life. This is a 20 of 10. The apartment is amazing, you feel the history of the place, and its tastefully decorated. João is a great host. He was waiting for us to give us the keys and show us the place and was really quick to answer any question or comment we had. The location at Alfama couldn't be better, close to the Panteon and there are free parking places at Santa Clara square, just be aware that on Tuesdays and on Saturdays they do the flea market so don't park where the signs marks. If this apartment is already booked, try any of the other Lisbon Unique Apartments.

AustraliaSingle beds were a little uncomfortable and probably needed an extra pillow for this room just in case required. Some of the cabinets needed a little work on them but this is just maintenance.
Loved the location (in the Alfama - old town district), and our host gave us information on arrival too. The apartment was so unique and very spacious for either a family or 4 friends travelling together! Had lots of room available and was quiet and clean, and close to local restaurants.

We had a great stay at Joãs apartment - the check-in was easy, the apartment had everything we needed, was well located (just 5 min away from train/Metro station), was clean and had air condition (much needed as the temperatures outside were pretty hot). We'd be happy to return.

NetherlandsLocated in an old building with a lot of character. Nice little outside terrace overlooking the neighborhood. Excellent location, walking distance to most sights in Lisbon (some require some heavy uphill walking ;)) and in an area with nice and lively bars and restaurants. House is quite big, lots of room to relax.

United KingdomAll good 😀
What a great little house, very quaint but also modern, arty and stylish, we only stayed two nights which really wasn’t long enough but luckily the location is very handy for Apolonia station, tram and metro. Lisbon is also more walkable than we had imagined, such a lovely walk from the apartment through Alfama to the cathedral etc via interesting streets and numerous little bars and restaurants to tempt you on your way! The kitchenette is good and there are two bathrooms! The location is so quiet and peaceful down a tiny travessa. João was a friendly and informative host and we would recommend his place to anyone.

United KingdomA lift would be useful as stairs were a bit tricky lugging heavy suitcases ..Not sure owner can do much about that either as it’s an old building in an old part of town ….
It’s an apartment in an old house which we loved ..The decor is unusual but we loved it ..the view of the National Pantheon was somewhat lessened by the presence of rubbish collection bins .Nothing the owner can do about that so just look up and enjoy the superb building right in front of you ..

United KingdomThe room was excellent. It dated back to 1512 and the host was on hand to talk to us about the property, its history, Lisbon and the surrounding area. The apartment hand excellent decor dating back through the ages and felt very comfortable. We had a couple of question for the host and he responded immediately. He left us a lovely bottle of port which we thoroughly enjoyed.
