Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandNo major issues, but we were surprised at the gradient of the stairs from the street door to the apartment. They are very steep but this is unavoidable in an old building. But potential visitors should be aware. Although if you're visiting to Alfama, you need to expect steps and hills aplenty.
Ideal location for our style of visiting a city. All facilities were provided to allow for a comfortable longer term stay.. Excellent communication with the host so long as you have data available. There was plenty of information provided and always a fast response.

AustraliaThe bed needs better pillows and quality matching towels for the bathroom Had this been the case, our ratings would have been 10.
Location and communication and professional as a host were exceptional. Would have to be the best we've encountered in Europe.

AustraliaI really enjoyed my stay here and it felt like home. I stayed 4 nights. The flat has a smart design and feels bigger than it is. The bedroom is in the perfect part of the flat - it was dark and quiet (unusual in this part of Lisbon). Not everything is new and “perfect”, but the flat had everything I needed and it was a really tranquil place to come back to. It is close to everything in Alfama and also close to public transport if you want to explore more of Lisbon. I didn’t meet the host in person but she provided great neighbourhood tips and everything was very easy. I’d be very happy to stay here again.

CanadaConveniently central location. Our host was very welcoming. We arrived much earlier than expected but Patricia let us in to store our luggage. She also answered all of our questions on where to start, want to see, etc. Patricia was lovely!

United KingdomGreat place to stay . Easy to get to (a short walk uphill from the Metro ) and near to the castle , view points, market (flea market) , Tram 28 route, churches etc and many places to eat. It was quieter than the main areas downtown and felt more traditional. The apartment was perfect for us (couple) equipped with all that we needed.

SwedenI had a very pleasent stay. The apartment was clean and fresh. Patricia welcomned me at the arrivial and gave me some valuable tips for my vacaition. I must say say the apartment and it’s location is very good. 15 min to the nearest subway and still in the heart of Alfama. Patricia who is the landlord seems to me as a wonderful lady who really knows what she is doing. She is very helpful.

NetherlandsLiterally nothing! Everything was exceptional and amazing :) I highly recommend the place to anyone
I was organizing the stay for my parents in law, who don't speak English. Patricia was amazing in helping with anything and going above and beyond to make them feel at home even with the language barier. She was very responsive and communication was so easy! She came for an early check in so they can leave the heavy suitcase before the walk in the city. She came back again quiet quickly couple of hour later just to help them open the door lock they've been having difficulties with. She helped in arranging a taxi to the airport. She was helping with anything all the time. An amazing host! The place - awesome! Top location, very clean, everything new, anything you need :) I highly recommend the place and the host!

United StatesOur only complaint was that it was a challenge to get to from the airport since we tried to take a bus and then navigate the windy streets up the hill with our luggage. But that wouldn’t keep us from going back.
The apartment was clean, cozy, and right in Alfama, surrounded by plenty of restaurants. We appreciated all of the amenities the apartment had to offer, especially the kitchen and washing machine. It was clean and well cared for.

United KingdomLovely gem of a flat. Traditional yet very well equipped. Great location - super quiet semi-pedestrian street yet the trams are only about 2 mins walk away and you feel like you are in the middle of a real local community. The owner clearly takes great pride in the flat and there were nice touches like umbrellas (not needed) and plenty of towels and toiletries that made the stay that much more comfortable. She also made sure she met us with the keys to show us round the flat and point out little features. It's a well converted flat in an older building that was very easy to feel at home in. Very comfy and big bed - fantastic sleep as it was so quiet too. We cooked one night and found all of the utensils and cooking stuff that we needed which was a lovely surprise. Small shop very nearby as well as a pizzeria and a bar with live music - you don't have to go far to be catered for but the proximity to the tram means you can get all around the city really swiftly too.

RomaniaIt didn't bother us, but worth mentioning that it's in an old apartment building and it's not really soundproof, you can sometimes hear noises from outside or the neighbors, but during the night it was pretty quiet.
We really enjoyed our stay here, the apartment was lovely, nicely furnished, spacious and very well equipped. It's located in a perfect safe area, close to all main attractions, easy to walk around everywhere, a lot of shops and nice restaurants really close. The owner, Patricia, was also really nice and welcoming, careful to all our needs :) Thank you for that!

NetherlandsThe apartment was in a central location very close to restaurants and city centre and public transportations. We really loved our stay there, and the host was so helpful and was always trying to make sure we are not missing anything. I'll definitely recommend this place to my friends. I think this is something common in all Lisbon, but if you have heavy luggage you need to do some practice as the stairs are vertical and narrow which makes it very hard to carry the luggage to the second floor. As well, the taxi does not drop you at the front door of the building, so you will need to walk a bit.

SpainI can't think of anything, besides from the steep streets, ups and downs every day (ha,ha! joking, something you already know if you've ever visited the city)
Everything. Lovely, cosy and comfortable appartment, with personal touch (not the typical "perfect design touristic" one) with windows and small balcony overlooking a lovely small square. Another advantatge: the street had limited traffic vehicle so it was mostly tranquil. The person in charge, Patricia, was lovely, attentive, always ready to help with any little problem or question; very professional, meeting us personally the first day was a very nice touch which we appreciated (nowadays in this "self check-in world, that kind of details have become very rare)
