How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Need recycle bin could be small but plastic glass and other and one day if you have chance small refrigerator and electric stove for hot tea and coffee ,spoon ,forks,knife and cups

So the cleaning lady was nice. Spoke. No English but we communicated through the translator app. But for whatever reason she had to wake me up at 11:00 every morning. There's a 6-hour difference between where I live and where I'm staying so I stay up late on the phone talking to family and friends. There is no do not disturb sign and according to the cleaning lady her job is to clean everyday at 11:00. That's what the boss lady wants. Try to tell her that's not what I wanted but that didn't matter. I'm not trying to beat these people up but it was pretty ridiculous. If you are an early riser then none of this would probably disturb you at all.
The place was reasonable. Decent location. Check-in was a little rough. The host never sent the door codes and room codes until I called while standing on the street. She says that she never goes to the property so it's all up to the cleaning lady that is only there for half the day and doesn't speak English. Guess that's something that I didn't particularly like. But I did extend my stay and once again she did not tell the cleaning lady that I was staying for extra days. So that had the cleaning lady at my room at 11:00 expecting me to be packed up and out. I guess I will carry on in the next block.

I tried emailing asking how close to the bus station The hostel was. Received. No response. I never got an email giving me the door code and the room number and room number code to get the key out of the box. The cleaning lady woke me up at 11:00 everyday. And when I asked her why she was doing that she said that's what her boss lady wanted her to do. There is no one on site to assist with check-in. I've never checked into any place in Europe that I did not have to show a passport. No one seemed to care. Clean lady spoke. No English so use translator app which is fine. She was nice. It was just she would bang on my door at 11:00 every morning. Wanted to know if I wanted my room cleaned even after I told her I didn't need her to do that everyday. She did it everyday. I extended my stay and the lady who runs the website did not inform the maid. So once again she was expecting me to be checking out and was banging out my door to 11:00 to let me know I had to go. I showed her the receipt. She called the boss and then still wanted to get in clean so I let her knowing that I wasn't checking out for 2 days. She still came back banging on my door at 11:00 in the morning the next day. I found this very annoying. Other than that the place is clean. Well located but really annoying way to run the business.
It was in a life location and the price was very reasonable based on what I was able to find on booking for the area.

The price fitted the Accommodation. Would have been nice to have coffee facilities and fridge etc.

We liked everything.
The place was very clean, the cleaner was there every day, also closed our window so it wasn’t hot, when we came home. She was also very kind. It is nice there is no-contact needed to get the keys.

Everything was great.
We had a great stay, the room was clean, comfortable and in a great location to explore peniche. The staff were helpful and let us leave our bags for a few hours after check out.
