How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

A bit “tired” but charming nonetheless. Loved the old internal signs which were a real feature of the hotels charm.
Central. Helped with the bicycles storage. Veet traditional - from another age. Weird town - no normal bars as land owned by the church so all the bars sold flowers and cake as well as beer to get around restrictions.. Very odd. Crazy early May agricultural festival which was fun.

Really well located in town centre. Lovely town, known as the White Town. The two hosts were extremely helpful. We parked easily outside the property. Breakfast was top class - Continental, with excellent produce, including tasty pastry. Highly recommended.

A small fridge in the room for cold water would be more than usefull, it was a VERY hot day outside
Very central but quiet location, close to the Antiques Market. All the basics for a nice accommodation provided, continental breakfast ok, clean room and restaurant. Helpfull hosts, warm people.

The big leather armchair in the room has been badly scratched by cats and lets the room standard down.
A lovely old building retaining many original features. The staff were very friendly and polite. A very clean and spacious room. Great shower. Good breakfast. Very central location for the town.

The room was initially a little bit cold.
Very service-minded staff. A very charming hotel in old portuguese style good located in the city center. I had a big room for two nights. I am on a keto-diet. Breakfast lacked egg and bacon. But the staff provided that specially for me the next morning as they where informed about it! Very nice! WiFi was also good.

Nothing!
Very central location just off the main square, with its cafes, bars and restaurants and a short walk up the hill to the castle. I had a room over the entrance with a balcony looking up to the square. A bit noisy early on but then it was quiet. An odd arrangement with the room split in two by a half partition creating a small sitting area and a half-separate bedroom. Still it seemed to work and had pretty blue painted furniture with flowers. Breakfast was ok with cereals, bread rolls. processed ham/cheese and unlimited urn coffee (not bad) and cheap juice. But for the price can you complain - no! Good value for money and nice atmosphere. Oh - and I almost forgot to mention it - the staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming!

I had no issues with this property.
I was able to drive right to the property with the aid of my GPS. The website had said that parking was available and the owner/manager found a great spot for me. I had requested a lower room, if possible. Reception is on the second floor of the building and the owner/manager upgraded my room in order to avoid additional steps which I greatly appreciated. The owner/manager spoke English which made things a lot easier.

Stairs to reception. Not good for people with walking difficulties
Staff couldn't do enough for us. Room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was continental with a wonderful variety. Would definitely recommend it 👌
