Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The setting, in an authentic farmhouse mansion. Very welcoming reception by everyone and especially the lady of the house who was very kind and warm. The property is very clean, taken care of, and was tastefully renovated preserving the spirit of the original place. The facilities are good, the bed is comfy and the room is smallish but a good size for a single room. Spotlessly clean, and well maintained with a modern small walk-in shower. The breakfast is superb, with eggs freshly made to your request, a wide selection of excellent breads, salad, cheeses and sausages. The homemade desserts are wonderful. And above all, the great hospitality every morning.

SwedenWe stayed four nights at Qta dos Misterios. Wonderful place. The staff and the owner showed the garden with huge magnolia trees and the library with ancient books. We even got a tour of the kitchen. The beds were comfortable. The garden had a nice pool too. Would love to come back.

United StatesI wish we could have stayed longer. I could eat a breakfast like that every day.
The Breakfast was fantastic. Almost everything was homemade. The coffeecakes, breads, jams, yogurt, fresh cheese eveyrday and eggs right from the chickens wandering around the property. The staff was more than friendly they treated you like family. Anything you needed they were there to help. And the owner is a fantastic cook and a wonderful person. Katrina, the manager, is the one that keeps things running smoothly and does a great job of it. We asked about getting tickets to a bullfight that was happening the day we got there and when we arrived she had the tickets for us. You don't receive service like this very often. A great place to stay.

United StatesThere is absolutely nothing that I dislike about it.
Quinta dos Misterios, put to shame some of the most prestigious hotel chains, such as the Four Seasons, One and Only, Ritz Carlton and many more. Did not expect at all to find such a gem in a small island like Sao Jorge. If you are like me that appreciate refined taste in design, colors, choice of art and immaculate service, than, Quinta dos Misterios is the place for you…and for you, the ones never had the opportunity of staying in a luxury home and want to learn and differenciate from execelency and mediocre, do yourself a favor and treat yourself. Breakfast was magnificent , do not have words to describe it.

It was a fantastic experience! We felt like at home. The room is good and the bed is comfy. It’s a house with history - don’t miss the small tour in the house and around - it’s really impressive. We loved the breakfast. They even make eggs from their own chickens, and home made yoghurts and jams. Catarina also gave us a lot of good recommendations for what to see on the island and great restaurants. Do not worry that it’s next to the airport: there are only a couple of planes per day landing. It’s so far the best stay I ever had while traveling in Portugal (and I’ve been to Portugal like 20+times :)

Marvelous rustic mansion in São Jorge with an incredible view of Pico from our bedroom. The house is beautifully renovated and the walls are covered with art. Close to Velas for the ferry and easy access to majestic fajãs and hiking trails. Dr. Graça and Catarina were incredible hosts. We felt totally at home and they gave us great tips every single day. The breakfast was delicious and rich, served in a charming room.

A beautiful old farmhouse renovated for comfort but retains its historic features and charm. The manager and all of the staff were amazing. They provided great suggestions for seeing the island and the breakfast was amazing. I wish we could have stayed longer.

NetherlandsThe coffee machine isn't the best. But gives you many options. The lights in the bedroom are super white. I'd like to suggest to change them to yellow low voltage ones. Would give a cozier vibe to it as well.
The staff. Really the kindest and the best. Super warm welcome, little private tour around the Quinta (farm/finca) The divine breakfast, the swimming pool, the vibe of the place. Everything, really. It's even possible to see a few flights arrive and leave but you won't hear them from the bedroom

ItalyThe facility is astonishing. The owner and her assistant, including the cleaning staff are simply wonderful people. Attention to detail, from the fine architectural solutions to the delicious home-made breakfast, is granted on a daily basis. I was a little sick when I arrived with strong cough and Graca (the owner) just gave me tons of candies. In addition, she offered the breakfast also to a friend of mine who had found a different accommodation for our vacation. I think this is the best experience I have ever had through Booking.com as the combination between typical and historical Azorean architecture and the hospitality of local people made my experience really unique! I am looking forward to returning soon!

BelgiumThe closeness to the airport is not a problem as there are only a couple of flights per day; however, during our stay, the airport was doing some maintenance work at night (which was quite loud). I imagine this was temporary and exceptional, we were just unlucky.
Beautiful and large renovated property with a lot of history, still run by the original family who owns it. The large garden is super peaceful and perfect to recharge after a day of hiking in S. Jorge. Everyone at the property was super kind, welcoming, and thoughtful - from D. Graça, the owner, to André and Catarina. Truly a special place that I would recommend without hesitation, and the favourite among all the places we stayed at during our two weeks in the Azores.

United StatesEverything was absolutely perfect
This is a magical hidden gem! This 400 year old family estate is owned and actively managed by Graça with a passion to share her beautiful heritage with her guests. All has been renovated for modern comforts but it keeps its historical character with original doors, staircases and chandeliers. The breakfast is wonderful and substantial. House made yogurt, fresh eggs from the resident chickens, pear and fig jam and cakes made by the owner the previous night. The Graça and the manager, Katarina were so happy and welcoming. Everything here was perfect. Multiple areas to relax in. You have permission to enjoy the library, parlor, a lounge area by the preserved grinding mill. The grounds have multiple areas to relax and enjoy. There are huge old, old trees. A beautiful swimming pool. Beautiful views of Mount Pico. It was close to the airport but no noise at night at all. The first plane arrived after 9am. There is a small store a mile to the west where you can get bread/cheese/wine and other snacks for your adventures about the island. I can't say enough about this hotel. It was the best place we stayed in 5 Islands of the Azores. They had wine and cake waiting for my husband's birthday and helped with our laundry. it was an excellent and unexpected value in our opinion. The hospitality was over the top. You must stay here! Make sure you ask Katarina for a tour of the home. AMAZING. AMAZING. AMAZING!!! We will be back 😄

Wonderful little gem of a hotel on Sao Jorge. This remodeled historic property maintains the quaint feel of life in the centuries past. The staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating if there is anything you need or any questions you may have. The breakfast is an amazing traditional breakfast and we never left hungry. This hotel hasn't been around long, but they are doing such a great job I think they will be around a long time. Beautiful property too with a pool, garden, and little farm where they raise chickens for the eggs you eat at breakfast. This is definitely where we will stay again next time we come to Sao Jorge!
