Restaurant’s DJ during the weekend was playing very loud. Pillows have already seen their best days.

AC was good but could’ve gone a bit colder, a very old and noisy unit.

Lovely room backing out onto a courtyard. Lovely atmosphere amongst a busy city and felt very secluded compared to the much larger hotels surrounding it. Staff friendly, good breakfast and the attached restaurant is good for a meal.

Rooms and the interior of the property show a lot of wear and tear (scuff marks on the floor, some paint flaking off the wall, etc) and it could do with a general upgrade (including access to rooms which is still with a key rather than electronic access). Breakfast was ok too.

The location of the hotel is fantastic - it's right on the sea but also a 20 minute walk from the city centre one way or to different Lidos the other way. Swimming pool and ocean access are great.

It was probably the worst room in the hotel but I presume that was because we were only staying there for 4 nights. The room itself was fine but it was dark and the bathroom was very small.

arrived very late at night and the staff on reception very kindly walked us to our room. Breakfast was nice.

The rooms need refurbishing.

We liked the location of the hotel especially being so close to the sea and still walking distance to the old town. Very easy to get the ferry to Porto Santo. The pool staff were super helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and reception helpful.

Honestly, if I am being picky then our room was a little tired decor wise. A bit of the bathroom door was chipped, and the furniture could do with being up-dated. The thing is...how much time do I spend in my room? Not enough to really care. This would not stop me from going to this hotel again. The pros out way the cons by far!!!!

Very good breakfast with lot's of choice. The staff well all fantastic. A special mention & thank you to Lena! The pool & sea view were amazing, which is something that not all (the more expensive) hotels have. Lovely 'split' hotel in beautiful gardens. Would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

We stayed in the section that was near the sea and we loved it. Lovely views, right next to the sea which you could access and swim in straight from the hotel. Plenty of parasols and sun loungers in the pool area. Very attentive and pleasant staff throughout the complex. Great location within walking distance of so many of the attractions of Funchal.

Room is quite old as well as the entire building. We found at least 10 cockroaches inside the room, so, beware of this. No soundproof, so expect for noises outside and by other guests.

Spacious room. Big bed. Good breakfast but very limited option for non-European/Westerner guests. Closer to nice restaurants. Tip: Maximise the swimming pool on the main hotel near the ocean.

The night staff were grumpy. Not helpful when dealing with a stressful situation (booking a taxi to the airport due to a cab cancellation). The beds were also quite uncomfortable.

Location relative to the ferry port meant that returning late at night (22:30) it gave a safe transit to the hotel. It is a lovely old style villa, but with modern facilities. Good selection of food at breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. Being only a short "bed and breakfast" stay I could not sample the features of the hotel (pool, dinner).

Our room was right next to the outdoor dining area which could be noisy while the restaurant was open. Apart from that nothing.

We loved this hotel. More traditional than some of the bigger hotels around it. Set in lovely gardens, our room had a small outside terrace area where we could sit and hear the birds sing. We loved the fact that the pool area a short walk over to the sister hotel has sea access for swimming. The breakfast buffet and outside seating area for breakfast was a morning treat each day. The room was modern and clean with a massive comfy bed. The location is excellent, 15 min walk to the old town 25 minutes the other way to the lido and plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby.
