The hotel was understaffed. Too few people working in the respective areas. Despite their amazing efforts, they weren’t clearly enough for the demand.

The Hotel facilities are very good and complete for relaxing holidays. The space is well arranged and inviting to chill out. The staff is super nice.

Staff were somewhat aloof. Had to ask for tables to be cleared so we could eat breakfast - this seemed to irritate the reception. Insufficient sun loungers for the size of the hotel. Ended up lying on towels on the grass, and it wasn't particularly busy.

Comfortable room with a pleasant garden, indoor and outdoor pools. Bathrooms are a nice touch - given it's a spar hotel.

Breakfast was a bit chaotic both in organization, equipment and staffing but the good was still tasty. Getting a coffee was a bit hit or miss.

Mattresses are not good at all, if a person moves minimally the other almost jumps out of bed. Breakfast is also poor for a 4 star hotel

The fact that we could not stay longer.

This is a beautiful hotel with some amazing features - going from the beautiful carved wood to the modern sculptures in the garden. It is all very impressive and creates a very calm and welcoming atmosphere. Everybody we met was very helpful and cheerful. Our room looked out over the garden and was a very large room with a really good sized bathroom. Thankfully, because we arrived in a heatwave, the room had air conditioning. We had a very good night's sleep in a very comfortable bed. We took advantage of the outdoor pool which was a real bonus and very clean with plenty of sun loungers. We did not try the Spa or the restaurant for evening meal but we did have breakfast and that was a buffet style with plenty of choice. All in all it was a very restful stay and we left with our batteries recharged.

It rained heavily during our stay and the carpet in the room was quite damp around the window - it was getting in underneath.

Charming premises, wonderful views, excellent restaurant - catering also for vegetarians. Amazing breakfast buffet! Staff very friendly and helpful, giving very excellent advice about food and wine choices. Enjoyed the massages offered in SPA facilities. Excellent location to visit Conimbriga roman villa site as well as the local museum on Romans, which is perfect for kids, but also has lot to offer for adults.

It’s historic significance and grandeur, location suited us, close to Camino trail and eateries.

The only thing I did not like was the mattress, it was very hard and springy, perhaps when a refurbishment is indeed carried out new mattresses need to be installed. Spring mattresses in 2025 are very uncomfortable, other than that the hotel was amazing.

Very good stay, friendly staff and quiet location. The hotel was very nice, albeit you could tell a refurbishment is needed in the medium term. The room was pleasant but there was some tear on the furniture and curtains, nothing that impacts the comfort obviously, but it's just for appearances sake.

The music in the hotel - especially in the restaurant was too loud and the lights hanging outside from the restaurant area to the bar are much too bright.
