Pool is a great size and temperature but very, very salty (needed our goggles) The 'gym' is very limited for the size of the property We didn't find the staff to be the friendliest on the island

The hotel is really nice, has a lot of pools and direct access to the sea. Lots of variety for breakfast too.

The breakfast space was quite crowded and the coffee left a lot to be desired. The furniture is also a tad outdated.

The view was amazing, the space and staff were very accommodating, perfect for a quiet yet astonishingly beautiful vacation. Breakfast was also varied and was pleasant to have while looking at the atlantic acean.

Breakfast could have been better, fruit not as sweet as you'd expect in a hot country, more exotic fruits maybe? Hot food gets a bit boring after a couple of days.

The hotel provided bubbly and chocolates and a turndown service on our first evening to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, this was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Really enjoyed the option to swim in the ocean and the pools were lovely too. Staff were always helpful.

They didn’t clean the room in a good way (they didn’t change the sheets throughout the whole stay) There was no diversity in the food

The room is very spacious . The staff were nice especially Goncalo Gomes the guy at the reception who helped us a lot and created a whole itinerary for the stay, he was very nice

Location of hotel is the key ! Near to funchal and also near bars restaurants etc Right on seafront next to Reid's! Room was exceptional we had a superior junior suite massive balcony facing the sea and pool area. Breakfast had a great variety and choice for everyone! Staff very attentive and house keeping looked after us very well.

One of the corners in our room was completely falling apart. All of the tape & drywall was deteriorating.

The breakfast was great! The pools were incredible! Along with the access to the Atlantic Ocean.

It’s very old and can use major renovation and upgrade to its rooms and facilities .

It would be helpful to be able to exchange the beach towels by the pool at the end of each day, as opposed to having it done by house keeping. That being said, this was usually done during breakfast, so no major issue. The gym facility which I used only once was split into two spaces, both close by to indoor pool areas. The one within the main hotel looked very unused and appeared more like a storage area, unlit and full of other things. A c=second area on the sea level was simple and well well fitted out, but being collocated with the heated indoor pool, it was very hot and humid. Fortunately the hills in Funchal, plus the daily swimming were both great exercise, so nobody missed the gym.

Great location with lots of places to eat nearby and only 15ms walk from town. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choices. Outdoor spaces such as sunbathing areas and terraces are very nice and we really enjoyed easy access to the sea when the days were hot. The rooms were really nicely fitted out and cleaned daily. We cannot compliment the staff enough, all of whom were exceptionally helpful and polite.

The parking situation is not guaranteed. There is a pay to park lot on the property that has about 20 spots and another lot below the property that is free but getting a spot is not guaranteed. You may have to park at Savoy Palace hotel lot and pay there, and that lot closes at night.

Property is stunning and has two great pools and lounge decks. The rooms are nice and comfy and clean.

Bit of a queue most days for the buffet breakfast, could do with more staff in the mornings. Having said that couldn’t fault the food selection. Great choice of everything and excellent quality.

Central location only 20 minute walk to center of Funchal. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Nice swimming pools and spacious bedroom with sea view.

We didn’t like having to pay for Stillwater at supper or any drinks at supper, although they were free for breakfast.

The food was absolutely excellent. We had a fabulous room number 724 which was dual aspect. There were lots of nice lounges and places to sit inside. When we got there, they gave us a very nice little cake and the evening before we left. They gave us some Maderia wine which was lovely.
