Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPillows a bit uncomfortable.
The hotel is well situated in the centre, close to the main square and many restaurants, although we had dinner in the hotel restaurant which was very good. Great to have underground parking at 15 Euros a night. Good spacious bedroom on 1st floor, with outside terrace area. Shower over bath. Fransisco on Reception was very helpful at check-in..

United KingdomSeemed expensive. Parking is VERY tight please don't try to take a large vehicle into Sintra you will really struggle!
Excellent location in Sintra, about 45 minute to an hour walk from the palace at the top of the hill. Really helpful front desk staff. Very clean rooms. Well equipped gym (but needs a bench in there). Beautiful views.

United KingdomThe parking was horrific, very small spaces and one evening it took us 25 minutes to manoeuvre into a space due to tightness and poor available spots. I understand parking is limited given the historical site, however the charge was £15 per night which is unreadable given the set up of their parking facilities. The bedding didn’t have a cover, instead they provided a duvet between two sheets which of course didn’t keep the cover protected. There were visible stains of all colours on the duvets as of course they are not machine washed between visitors which led to me sleeping without. Sorry!!
The location and instructions on how to get there were great.

CanadaMore like suggestions, not dislikes. The rooms could use a little maintenance, the bathroom was clean but there were lots of humidity damages in the plaster in the bathroom. A working bathroom fan would help with this. The room terrace had a table and chairs that were full of dust and cobwebs.
Superb location, ample room with a pretty view, parking on site, great staff recommended restaurants nearby, no carpet in room, buffet breakfast with good options.

United KingdomThe Hotel was a little difficult to find, even using a satnav and the hotel directions. It has been refurbished, although the bathroom was clean, functional, it was a little basic.
The Hotel is situated in the heart of Sintra, excellent location. Parking was good, located underground, spaces were quite large. The staff were very attentive. Breakfast was excellent. I'd highly recommend the hotel as a base to explore all the wonderful heritage in the Sintra area.

SwitzerlandWe didn't get the information from the hotel that to get to it we had to go via a barrier, which would be opened only with a QR code. The gatekeeper didn't want to us to let us in and we had to smuggle ourselves behind another vehicle, this created unnecessary stress. At check-in employees helped us with the baggage as they knew we were upset. The hotel needs more maintenance, it looks a bit run down, which is a pity, because the location is outstanding. Breakfast was average.
The hotel is very well located, one of the few ones in the center of Sintra with option to park. The breakfast room has a nice view over Sintra. The room and bathroom were good and well equipped.

BelgiumThe hotel feels like early 2000s and, given the price charged, could use some renovation (room furniture, vintage doors, lobby). Some of the windows in the lobby look like they haven't been washed in years (see photo). Restaurant/bar staff seem not to care about their jobs (took 15 minutes to bring the menu on a quiet afternoon, and then didn't come back to take the order - we eventually left).
Friendly and polite reception staff. Mattresses were medium-soft, with bouncy springs, but a topper can be installed. Nice bathrooms. Gorgeous balcony view over the valley (really one of the nicest views we saw in Sintra). Excellent location next to the National Palace. Although the basement parking was very tight and difficult to navigate, there was usually a free spot. If you come by car, make sure to read the instructions before arrival and get the QR code for the stoplight, otherwise you risk blocking traffic on a steep one-way street. Overall, good rooms and a good hotel.
