Breakfast a massive let down. No furniture on the balcony. Overpriced for what it is

My friends and I stayed one night in Monte Gordo yesterday for a meet-up. While the hotel itself is a bit outdated and basic – definitely not luxury but clean and comfortable – the bar staff were exceptional. Their cocktail skills were surprisingly good, and they truly elevated the experience. Parking was a struggle, given the limited space for the hotel's size. The biggest disappointment was breakfast; it was a complete fail. I'd strongly recommend skipping it entirely. The food quality, from the anemic bacon to the questionable coffee machines and unappetizing meats, cheeses, and tinned sausages, was poor. However, for a quick stay in Monte Gordo, the location is fantastic. If you just need a clean, comfortable, and functional place to sleep and plan to enjoy the town's offerings, this hotel fits the bill. I wouldn't choose it for a holiday, but it's fine for a short stopover.

I would not class this hotel as a 4 star as the room furniture was a bit tatty. It's good furniture but clearly very old. The bar is very expensive so the fact you cannot take your own drinks for when you want to chill in the room is a bit over the top.

The staff were so friendly especially at the front desk. The room was very clean. the entertainment was good. Food was good.

We booked in for New Year's Eve, however on arrival there was a two hour long queue to check into our room. Whilst I appreciate this was probably the busiest night of the year, and the reception staff were working flat out, the queue was very slow moving. As this is a 4 star hotel I am surprised there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. This would have been very much appreciated as when returning to the hotel after midnight there was no availability of tea or coffee on the premises. The hot breakfast could do with being a bit warmer. The rooms were looking a bit tired

The hotel is in a good location, close to the beach and the town. They provided a good breakfast with plenty of options.

I enjoyed my stay, nice comfy bed, close to the beach, high ceilings etc. It’s a nice hotel but feels somewhat tired and lacking in glamour however with investments and a number of changes it has the potential to be much better! A simple recommendation would be to stick a small carpet tab under each leg of the big wooden chair that each room has. This would stop the loud noise they make each time a guest moves one, as they can be heard scraping along the floor from other rooms. A simple, cheep fix to one annoying issue.

They're a bit cheap. You get charged extra for everything. In Monte gordo, they just want to suck the money out of your pocket

I didn't like that nobody told me the parking was payed on the night we arrived and the next day the receptionist wanted me to pay for the park. We had no way of knowing. I would like real coffee at breakfast, not some barley mix. The room bathroom light switch had a really intense glittering white light that kept us from falling asleep. An electric kettle in the room should be standard.

Right at the entrance of Monte Gordo, within walking distance to the beach. Good breakfast with lots of options. The staff at the breakfast and the bar was very friendly and professional.
