Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI would have liked a glass in my room as the water bottle could not fit under the faucet. Hence, I was unable to refill my water bottle. I would have liked access to a hair dryer. To be honest, I did not ask if there was one I could borrow.
The room was comfortable with closet and place to put the suitcase. It also had a table and chair you could use for your laptop. The location was great as you could easily walk to any place in the old section of the city. The night receptionist was very helpful when I was very late arriving.

United KingdomA small refrigerator in the room might have been a useful addition, although perhaps it would be too much to expect at this price.
I was very pleased with the staff: they accompanied me to the room, explained how everything worked, and were both professional and courteous throughout, which I greatly appreciated. The hotel is centrally located, the room is spacious and very clean, and the facilities are satisfactory. I was also able to sleep peacefully at night. Considering the rate of €40 per night, I believe it offers excellent value for money, which is why my overall experience was highly positive.

United StatesIt's clean, very clean, in fact they insisted to clean my room for the extra day I stayed. Great location, all restaurants and vendors within walking distances. I love the very bohemian at one corner with this very talented street singer that I hope he can be one day recognized.

PortugalThis is not related to the Moderna itself, but when I realized that in that same street there were many other hotels or guest houses, I was surprised: when I searched on booking for a place, these other places did not show up -- I would have liked to compare them before settling for Moderna...
Location: very close to the Baixa (lower part of the historic center), and excellent access to train station or stop of the shuttle bus to intercity train station. Room: I liked the slight touch of vintage, although the bathroom was totally new (I only slightly missed a focused light near the mirror for shaving). I did not need any parking.

CanadaAlthough close to the city centre, we did not like seeing a group of people loitering in the street close to the hotel. One of guy blocked off what appeared to be a local old man trying to find his way. With respect to the room, having chairs (whatever quality) for the balcony would have been nice. No safe in the room.
Very close to the city centre: foot steps away! Small backyard balcony with nice view of the city. Comfortable enough, although it felt like a students' room shared by roommates. Staff helpful and secure hotel.

United StatesA centrally located spot that does the job with a few quirks. The atmosphere is calm, the staff friendly and helpful, and the location solid—walking distance to everything you need: bars, restaurants, markets and sites. My room was comfortable, but the plastic mattress and pillow cover gave me pause—felt like a quiet nod to possible bedbug battles past. Clean, minimalist and compact bathroom and a small balcony that begged for a chair but offered none. The building itself sits tucked inside a small shopping center, which has its own charm if you squint. Locals hang out nearby at night, chatting and playing music—it’s lively, not disruptive. Wi-Fi was moody. Fair price for what you get, but a few touches would elevate the experience.

South AfricaFacilities for storing clothes and cases.
It is a very small hotel. It does not offer breakfast but there are several eateries within 5 minutes walk that do. It is very well situated, the railway station is in easy walking distance (10 minutes) and there is a wide selection of restaurants and sidewalk cafes. The room is rather a disaster, no shelf space and a small hanging space with 6 coat hangers. There is no tea coffee facility, minibar, safe or hair-dryer. The bathroom is on the other hand large with a loverly shower for 2.
