How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The area is super touristic. To find an authentic tasca to eat means you will need to walk to another neighborhood. But that has nothing really to do with the property, it’s just an observation.
The location is really great. Close to everything (walking distance to Alfama) great value for money for what you get. Very clean and I felt very safe there. 24 hour reception and the SOFTEST sheets I have ever slept on. Quiet, even though on a main road.

Safe instructions unclear, couldn’t get it to work. Housekeeping disturbed room despite do not disturb sign on door. Noise net curtains at window for privacy, so had to keep blackout curtains drawn with lights on. Noise of trams outside from 5am sounded like distant thunder. Side lamps harsh light, no dimming.
Central location, very clean. Quieter room on 5th floor as per request. Good size room and bathroom. Very helpful and friendly staff. Mini fridge in room to store food and drinks. Kettle and cups provided on request with a very helpful member of staff. Blackout curtains and excellent ac. Good shower. I Lift to 5th floor. Luggage storage.

Interior room was a little dark, and if you opened the windows to let some air in then there was a smell of greasy food from outside. But AC worked so wasn’t a major issue.
Great location on the shopping quarter. Helpful reception team.

The room comprised of two single small beds (pushed together) rather than one large (queen/king) size.
The room is spacious; almost too much so given the bathroom is in turn small. It has a view onto the main street and heavy curtains to block light and sound. Breakfast was ok where you pre-choose from a menu.

The street in front of the hotel is blocked to vehicles so you need to walk a block to get Uber/taxi. This isn't really a problem for most but if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues it could be a challenge. The hotel staff was very helpful though so I imagine if you have mobility issues you might be able to make arrangements with them.
The staff what very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with all needed amenities. Great value

Our window faced a shaft with construction The air conditioner lack power, never got bellow 25 even though we set it at 19 Parking is a nightmare, don’t drive there, take a taxi

There was not much natural light in the interior room. In hindsight, I should have booked a room with street view.

It seemed that the hotel was undergoing some serious redecorating. Our floor smelt strongly of paint, and the walls were half done. There was one elevator which was small and painfully slow. If you took the stairs instead you risked tripping over the painters’ drop sheets, cans of paint and other equipment which was stored in the stairwell.
Location, location, location. Brilliant.

The AC didn't work consistently in our room. We had the staff come help and he fixed it briefly, but it kept breaking and it was quite hot in there.
The staff were super helpful and the room layout was lovely.
