Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UkraineThe Wi-Fi hardly worked — it was only available until around 10 a.m., and then stopped completely. I had to buy a Portuguese SIM card as I had a lot of online work to do. It’s also worth mentioning that the apartment is on a high floor the 5th floor, accessible only by steep stairs. It was a bit challenging, but manageable. It can also get quite noisy at night, but it’s still bearable.
The accommodation was clean and well-maintained, and everything looked even better than in the photos. There was plenty of space for two adults, and the bathroom was also comfortable. It’s also worth noting the view from the window, which is truly magical and offers a breathtaking panorama of Porto.

FranceThe property looked like they didn’t even pretend to clean it before my arrival: dusty, dirty and hair EVERYWHERE.
The location is amazing, almost everything you need to see in Porto is not further than a 15 minute walk, the checkin and the checkout are easy.

United StatesI would have liked to know that you have to use a step stool to get into the shower. I think that is a slip hazard when wet.
Loved the location. The room was pretty and comfortable.

FranceSmall room and an awkward shower. I’d suggest putting anti-slip on the stairs.

NetherlandsSomething like a small table would have been nice, but the room was not that big. I think overall it was really solid.
Location was the best, easily getting to the metro and other places from this location was amazing. And Mantegeiro next door was just incredible.

AustraliaNot cheap. The entrance was through the back street. No reception, they don't have anyone on site. Steep, narrow, timber staircase. It was hard to carry my luggage to the top floor - 80 steps. Bed takes most of the space of the room. Complicated check-in (you must have working phone with access to your email). Would be nice to have a minibar and ...a drinking glass/cup. Not the best WiFi, if you could connect at all. Next day I bought local SIM.
Very good location. Comfortable double bed, nice, small bathroom with good shower (strong water pressure, hot water), hairdryer, ceiling fan, TV with many channels including CNN, BBC, Al-Jazeera, DW, France 24,...Window with city's view. Good communication via email..

ColombiaCleanliness, handling of room garbage, there are nearby restaurants, and it is too loud until 1 am. The room is small, good for a solo traveler. A couple might find it a little tight
The location is great, the wifi is good for work, and the bed is comfortable

Czech RepublicI would recommend installing a small fridge under the shower section!
The location is excellent. It is in the very centre of Porto, close to the main square and the central line of the metro (the airport is some 30 minutes by this metro). Even though it is centrally located, there is no noise at night. My room was upstairs, and check-in was automatic. I had no problems, as I had all the information in advance, and all the codes worked perfectly. I did not mind walking the beautiful round stairs, but I can understand that with huge suitcases, this might be a challenge, not to mention that there is little room for large suitcases in the room. The room is tiny but perfectly designed – the shower is just a step from the bed, but it has its unique charm! You can even store your clothes in the drawers below the bed, which I found charming:)

They are a pair of steps to go into your room. Be prepared to if you have luggages. Very steep. The wifi didnt work. The walls and ceiling need renovations, also the shower cabin. Some aspects of cleanliness are overlooked.
The location was right in the centre.

North MacedoniaAlthough the property is very nice, they don’t have anyone on sight, neither at night or in the morning. The communication was only on WhatsApp. When I arrived, I was told to enter through the back entrance but the entrance door did not open with the code. Then, I was told to get a key from a lock box, but the lock box was also broken and it took me a while to open it. When I did, I struggled to open the door with the key because the door is very old. Finally, there was no internet. I communicated this to the landlord who told me they will come to fix it, but it was not fixed. I ended up paying 40 EUR for internet that I bought online because I work online.
The hotel is a very cute building, centrally located and close to many popular sights. The room is small, but clean and nicely decorated. Easy communication with the landlord on WhatsApp.

United KingdomThere was obviously some kind of night club nearby and the bass rattled the building until the early hours. A few things just seemed sloppy, TV not dusted, radiator fallen off the wall, etc. But not unpleasant.
Really good location, bed was comfortable and good shower (although it didn’t drain very well).

SpainFor my personal preference, the bed mattress was a little too firm and uneven. If you have mobility issues, there are quite a lot of windy, narrow stairs to get to rooms (I was in 2F). Being in a room on this floor meant there was only an open unprotected WiFi link so could not use for mobile as too dangerous. Water pressure in shower was adequate but not strong.
Excellent location for getting around Porto and close to many shops, bars, restaurarants etc. It is close to the train station so easy access from airport. Also very close to the Lello bookshop. A lovely welcome from Laura who was very helpful in recommending places and giving information about getting around. The room was spotlessly clean, and although compact in the bed area, had a prettily decorated bathroom with good size walk-in shower and plenty of storage shelves, hanging area in entrance part. Room had heating, good lighting and a good amount of plugs by the bed which is always handy. The 6 rooms in this prettily reformed original house are above a very nice little wine bar that does snacks (only open til 7pm).
