We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. PortugalThe host changed the family studio we booked for a small studio (cheaper) without telling us, or billing us the right price. After complaining they assumed they changed it without telling us for their own interest, but didn't give us back the studio. They gave us the difference of the price. Desilusion.

SlovakiaThere is a kitchen with plates and pots, but would expect more. There was no proper knife for cutting, no spice rack, oil or household cooking items. Saw a few ants in some of the kitchen shelves, avoid leaving sweet stuff outside.
Great location, 5 minutes walk from city centre and 10-15 from beach. Very tiny apartment, but it has everything you need, even a balcony with drying rack.

PortugalThe team is very confused, not trained, miscommunicated in between. I made a reservation for 2 nights, which was confirmed, but in the end I could only stay 1 night. Entrance of the hall super disorganized. Upon check out, they don't give you invoice. Not a good experience.

HungaryStarted upon arrival, the host said "we have an overbooking" so instead of two apartments each with 2 beds they can provide only one apartment, but with 2 "large beds", and the host was surprised, when we did not accept it, not wanting to sleep in a common bed. Then she provided a solution, at one of her friends, who was renting out "apartments" in the same village. Well, it was a room within the house where the old lady lived, and toilet, shower etc would have been common with here (her bra was hanging from the tap in the bathtub), and the atmosphere was like in The Addams Family. The one complete apartment, where we finally decided all 3 of us would sleep, was with two beds about the width of 120cm. And the whole apartment smelled from cat pee.

United StatesThe shower is REALLY dirty. It had mould and dark spots all over that a cleaning product and a brush would clean in seconds. If wasn't for the bathroom I would give 5 starts. Also, the stairs are really narrow so if you are a big person might not be the best option for you.
The location is PERFECT! Communication with the owner and other ladies was great. Bernardo speaks English and Portuguese and was helpful all the time. We ended up staying 3 nights and check-in/out was easy. She also let us leave our luggage after check out which was very helpful! The room is very simple, but comfortable if you're looking for something just to sleep in.
