Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI don't recall there actually being coffee making facilities, and I was pretty sure that is why I booked the place. Sharing a bathroom is not the greatest, but I knew that was what was happening. Checking in was challenging as there is more than one accommodation place in the building, so I ended up on the wrong floor to begin with. It could be better labelled downstairs where the doorbells are.
I stayed for 2 nights and was relatively happy with the facilities. Of course I would have preffered a private bathroom, but for the price I was paying in Lisbon, this is hard to find. The metro is very close and there is a lift, which is very helpful for idiotas with amssive suitcases like myself.

GermanyI couldn’t sleep well even with earplugs and closed windows because of the outdoor noise from the constant traffic of the street and nearby large boulevards. You could also hear the doors next to you open and close (thin walls and doors). If you’re a light sleeper it may not be the place for you. It’s an apartment which can house about 40 people at its maximum capacity, I was there with only one or two at the time and could still hear my roommate neighbor.
Very convenient location, around the corner from the Metro station at Marques do Pombal, the beautiful large park Edward VII, upscale Avenida da Liberdade, 15 min walk up to El Corte Ingles; safe, nice neighborhood! Comfortable firm mattress, clean shared bathroom (two showers with toilets and two separate toilets, additional sinks, and shared big kitchen with everything possible necessary to cook or prepare meals and hot drinks, complimentary tea/coffee/spices/olive oil& vinegar, separate recycling ♻️, individual shelf in fridge. For solo travelers they have 3 rooms, best of which is with a balcony, slightly bigger than mine. I was in the second best, it’s small but cozy. It looked bigger in the photos (I thought there would be enough space on the floor for a yoga mattress but there wasn’t)

United StatesMy room was near the entrance and you could hear when people entered. The rooms aren’t very sound proof, so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
Very clean. Excellent location near the Marque du Pombe. Close to many restaurants. Check-in instructions were clear. Shared bathroom but each toilet and shower is in its own lockable stall.

New ZealandI quite liked this place - was really clean and tidy, had everything i needed. I especially appreciated how clean it was - bathrooms were always clean, the kitchen was spotless and organised and had literally everything needed. I liked the location as it was out of the hustle and bustle but easy to get to via metro and buses.

DenmarkBit confusing to find when getting there, and there wasn't really any smoking area or organized pub crawls as advertised. Bed was also single and not queen, but other than that amazing deal given price
Really good price, cleanliness, location, staff and cozy common areas such as kitchen and living room. Lots of stations nearby

AustraliaThere wasn't much atmosphere it wasn't quite a hostel, but wasn't quite a hotel. Sits somewhere in between.
Clean and comfortable, kitchen was well stocked with utensils and also with a selection of free food like yogurts, fruit, tea coffee ect. The room was spacious compared to other Lisbon hostels. The bathroom was clean but a bit of a odd layout. Good location. Close to public transport but also you could walk into the centre if you wanted to and had time.

RomaniaThe kitchen could not provide seating for all the guests at once and it was rather crowded at breakfast or dinner hours (it seems that the Americans, Romanians, Spanish and French have breakfast at the same time 😃). The room got rather hot during daytime and it wasn't equipped with air conditioning. The central positioning of the building had the downside of not finding parking, even with pay sometimes. The soap dispenser in our private bathroom (which the staff so kindly provided for my family, the rest of the facilities being shared among the other guests of the house) was barely working.
I liked the cleanliness, the well-equipped kitchen (everything you need and even more to have breakfasts and dinners just like at home), the interaction with the staff, the easiness in accessing the apartment (with a code for the building door and another for the hostal door), the location close to supermarkets, metro and bus stations, a huge park.

It was superclean and the personnel at the reception was very friendly and helped me a lot on giving advice on public transport. I had a private room, which was quite spaceous and also had a balcony. In the communal kitches everything is very organised and clean. You can make use of all the kitchen facilities as long ad you clean your own stuff, afterwards ofcourse. It was only a 20minute walk to the busy centre and also the metro is just a couple of metres away.

LatviaHave nothing to complain about.
I like basically everything. Extremely good location, nice building (with an elevator), spotless premises, very convenient room. The staff is very kind and responsive; directions for self-check-in (I arrived late evening) were very clear. Highly recommend, and hope to stay in the place once again myself.

SpainMaybe the beds could be a bit more comfortable but it depends on your personal taste.
The staff is charming and everything is always clean. It's near to the center of the city and you can find near some good restaurants, supermarkets and everything you need. The toilets and the common areas are always super clean and tidy up.

SingaporeThere is construction in the building, so be ready for lots of noise. Because of that, there is often a bad gutter smell in the common rooms. Our room was VERY small with no actual window. Even though there was a fan, it was not enough and we were very hot when sleeping
