We chose the Engenho Velho SOLELY because it is adults only - like MOST adults we are not travelling with kids; and do NOT enjoy being disturbed by them. Congratulations to the Engenho Velho for realising "adults only" is the fastest growing and most profitable sector of the market (kids add massive overheads for little or no revenue.) The Engenho Velho impressed at every level - It's outstanding as a place to stay: great facilities, high quality, well equipped rooms, great location.

The mini-bars in each room are noisy. We had to turn ours off at night, and at times we could hear the ones from the surrounding rooms.

What we liked the most was the tranquility the hotel offers. The fact that it's a small hotel with few guests makes it ideal for relaxing. The pool area is great. The staff is five-star.

The fridge in the room is a little louder, but we never minded.

The hotel is pleasant and in a great location. From the balcony you can see the ocean. This was our third time at this hotel this year and again we were delighted. The pool water was also warmer this year than in previous years. Swimming after walking all day was great. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had really nice ocean view from our room, which was very spacious and clean with enormous size bed. The breakfast was great and delicious with everything one could want. The restaurant we loved also, they have superb steaks and skewers. The latters have really cool presentations too... All in all a very good deal for your money!

Just little far away from everything

The views were briliant (from restaurant and also from terrace), I recomended this hotel,its peacefull place for relaxing. Nice huge rooms with cattle and some teas/caffe bags. If you dont want clean the room you will save 3€/day (can be use in restaurant) + free parking

- breakfast was good but everything was cold (eggs, bacon, sausages) - first time we came at 9:30 , second right after opening 8:00 am.. in both cases all was cold - rooms equipment (apart from bed) is very simple (tight budget I assume) . Shower not working properly

- friendly personnel - very comfortable bed - nice view - spacious rooms - wonderful pool (but cold ans useless in the winter)

Breakfast did not have many options, especially for vegans. No toiletries (like toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving kit etc) so bring your own!

Nice and quiet little hotel if you have a car, the restaurant and breakfast were really good and the staff was very nice! The pool was big and clean and there weren't a lot of people around. Would recommend!
