Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Germanywe had the room with private shower and toilet. the space in the bathroom wasn't enough and the shower was not that clean (at the same time i can't say it was dirty).
the staff was really friendly and nice, and they were really helpful about what we need during our stay. location was amazing. there are bars and restaurants close by and most of the things were walking distance. the room was clean, also the shared bathroom and toilets. they let us leave our luggages before and after and they helped us with carrying them to the third floor.

GermanyThe mattresses might need an upgrade someday and we had to position the fan on a chair.
This is a lovingly refurbished guest house with authentic Portuguese touches in decor. Some fittings need a slight upgrade - the TV and decoder is an obsolete addition, electric plugs speak to an era before the mobile device ecosystem and the shower is an adventure - but all in all it was a magical experience to look over Porto from the balcony.

PolandThis place is just above a bar which is open very late, it can be a problem for some because of the noise, but it didn't bother me at all. The doors are quite thin, so you can hear other guests outside.
The location is great, short walk to the metro station. Receptionists were super friendly and helpful. Room was small, but very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathrooms were also clean, but they are shared - one toilet for one floor, and one shower for two floors. During a longer stay it could be problematic, but for a couple days it's alright. Easy check in and check out. For this price you couldn't expect more.

New ZealandFacilities are a bit dated and it can be noisy depending on what side your room is. No aircon so fairly hot in summer months - luckily there's much to experience out of the room!

Germanymy room was on top floor, with extra stairs to it. bathroom was steep stairs down, shower even one more floor below. there is one tiny toilet on each floor for dozens of guests and 4th floor has no shower. there is no kitchen, no place to make coffee or make a meal. the facilities are really underwhelming and insufficient.

AustraliaThe bed was very uncomfortable. I could feel the springs underneath. The room has double door. Neither door is fixed to anything. Therefore, you need both hands to open and close it without making a big noise. It is easily fixed by fixing one of the doors by small bolt. The worst part is that towels and toiletries are not provided. I was looking forward to using a normal towel after 35 days using my own skimpy little towel on Camino.
The property was in good location. Staff were very helpful. They let me check in early and stored my luggage after check out until I was ready to leave Porto.

NorwayOur room didn’t have a fan which meant we had to sleep with the window open as it would have been too hot otherwise. Also it’s not super wheelchair friendly as there are no elevators.

United StatesThe room was really small for two people. Because it backed up to an alley with outdoor dining and drinking, it was very noisy until the wee hours. The shower was challenging to use. The water was scalding!

NetherlandsWe had a great time here during our short stay in Porto. The location is perfect, everything is in a walking distance from the guest house. It can be a bit noisy in the evening, but we did not mind. The beds were fine, we had everything we needed. The host behind the reception was really great. He gave us tips for exploring the city and helped us with everything we needed!

GermanyBe aware that the bed is not comfortable because the mattress is very old. Furthermore, there is no option to store your clothes/stuff because there is no wardrobe. Also, you have to share the shower and since there is only one shower for all guests, you might have to wait or discuss with other guests.
It’s great that you have a small balcony, a heater and your own sink in the room itsself. You are able to lock the room from outside and inside. Everything was super clean too and the room was very bright and filled with sunlight throughout the day.

Canada5 flights of steps. Shared bathroom left a lot to be desired (wobbly toilet, door that squeaked, didn’t close great). Other guests didn’t keep it too clean or were too quiet. Good location, close to everything, but had drunks outside one night yelling at each other for hours.
The room was a good size.
