Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThe location was perfect, remote enough for it to be fully peaceful but also close to some beautiful cities, sights, restaurants and activities for anyone looking to expand their stay beyond the facilities . The hotel itself is beautiful and has all the commodities for a wonderful family holiday with ease, comfort and simplicity. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was generally very good and the whole experience was so great we are sure to come again! Thank you

MacaoThe toilet no safety handles in the bathtub, not enough water pressure for a decent bath. The breakfast could be so much better, with more employees, set outside, with good coffee machines and a bread toaster, and more food and local products choice available.
The amazing building, hand painted tiles, the historic place. The welcoming receptionist trying her best to full filled our expectations. The attendant Eduardo, at the restaurant, friendly and attentive to us.

PortugalI love the location, this wasn't the first time I was there, peaceful spot, two great pools, perfect for resting, helpful and nice staff, we got upgraded to a suite and the AC was already on when we entered the room, given it was hot outside this extra attention was very welcoming.

Everything! It been several years now that I stay at this hotel and I have never been disappointed! Wonderful breakfast, very welcoming staff always helpful, attentive and friendly. Spacious room. Having a drink before diner at the cloisters was, as usual, very gratifying. Having a meal at the restaurant Ermita is a must! Great and gastronomic food in a wonderful environment. I will always be back!

United StatesOur rooms (in the stable and in the annex) lacked mini-fridge (although the front desk will hold your food items) and no coffee pot in the room. The shower heads, in both rooms, would fly loose and spray water everywhere. We would have used an outlet by our bed in the stable room, but not a huge issue.
The hotel is gorgeous! Next time, I would book in the summer (which is not in May), so the pool bar would be open. The grounds, breakfast, dinner, and all the nooks and areas to explore were amazing!

GermanyIt was all good!
The old monastery is big, hence a lot to discover within the old walls. The restaurant has outstanding service and menu. We had dinner twice. Great experience. There are two hiking trails on the property. The 6 km was just fantastic!

PortugalOur annex room was at the end and seemed to have a bit of a damp issue on one wall - I'm usually sensitive to that sort of thing but I didn't notice. The pillows were not my favourite, but staff gave us extras when we asked
Ever since seeing pictures I've wanted to stay at this convent hotel and it was even better than I expected. If you stay you can explore the property freely, and there is so much to see. Annex room was decent enough but I'd stay in the convent itself next time. Enjoyed the adults-only pool and were able to order G&Ts delivered. Breakfast was also very nice. Walked one of the trails (6km) around the property. The on-site restaurant is very pretty and the food is quite good, though the restaurants in the nearest village are better.

PortugalThe quality of the food could be better, for both main meals and breakfast. My dish of meat was salty that I had to send it back! The fruit smelled of onion!
The convent compound is extraordinarily well located, lodged on a hillside among trees. The labyrintic interior with rooms and terraces on different levels is amazing and fun. The hotel made sure that the wood-burning fireplaces at strategic places are kept burning! The old nucleus with its hallways covered with painted tiles is stunning. The monks' cells were successfully transformed into comfortable guest rooms.

United StatesThe WIFI in our room was not so great. Closer to the main building the wifi was perfectly fine. They may need another extender or something to reach the lower room better.
Staff was wonderful. The property was historically amazing and met our expectation. The restaurant was very good and staff wonderful. Orange trees all around and lovely view. Very relaxing and comforting.

NetherlandsThere was hardly any light in the bathroom and the shower was not comfortable. The beds where okay. The historic building also means that the rooms and hallways are quite noisy due to echo, but fortunately most guests where not that loud walking trough the hallways in the evening. The restaurant was fine, but the waiter could use some training. Mixed up quite a lot and eventually we waited an hour on our food.
It was an adventure to stay here.. The convent is spectacular and the you can easily spend some time wandering around and looking at all the tiles, chapels, fountains, hallways etc. They have a piano, a biljart, a lounge area so no need to stick to your room. The personnel at reception and breakfast was very helpful. The breakfast was complete and could be used in de courtyard, as well as dinner which made it extra special. They where very welcoming to young children.
