Staying with Sara and Jon was great. They were very welcoming and friendly. They offered to show us around if we wanted, but they were also happy to stay aside and let us explore everything by ourselves, depending on what we preferred. They engaged in interesting talks, but didn't pushed us into talking. The breakfast was great, prepared with much details (some beautiful flowers) and tailored to our wishes. We had the whole upper level for our self, including the balcony and a relaxing second room. Everything was extremely clean, we had much space and Sara and Jon thought of everything. All in all, we can highly recommend staying here.

We found very good accommodation with Sara and John. The room was large and everything was very clean. We had our own bathroom with shampoo and hand soap and fresh towels. 
For breakfast we could choose the time and from eggs, omelettes, fresh fruit, meat, cheese and much more. We had great conversations with the two of them and they gave us lots of tips for walks and restaurants in the surrounding area. That we had to leave

As we were on Madeira for a week of hiking we chose to spend two nights on the west of the Island . Prazeres is ideally situated for this as it is a short ride to the 25 Fontes, Levada Nova and Moinho hikes as well as to the Fanal Forest. Also to Port Moniz and the fantastic look out at the Ponta da Pargo lighthouse. The room is spacious and has an accompanying sun room facing west for great sunset views. Even has a telescope for star gazing. On arrival there was a bottle of wine cheese and crackers awaiting. Also on arrival we did a wash and dry of our clothes on site- no charge. As others have mentioned Sarah and John are amazing hosts- no request too big. Their recommendations for local restaurants were spot on for us- within 15 minutes - great food and eating with mainly locals. At breakfast we so enjoyed our chats about Madeira and other matters and were sorry we had to leave to get on the hiking trails early. Breakfast made on the spot and we were allowed to take what was left to take on our hikes for lunch. After a two day stay we left feeling like friends for life

Location was fantastic for Levada walks, Sarah and John were welcoming and generous hosts. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and varied. You have a huge bedroom plus a sun lounge and terrace for relaxing.

Sara and John,our incredibly helpful hosts, together with their friendly dogs, made our stay in Prazeres unforgettable! Besides the top quality of the apartment and the facilities, they added the invaluable feeling of being home, with family. Starting with paying attention to every need one might have, as in our case was a plant based diet, continuing with the interesting talks at the breakfast, which were the cherry on the top of Sara's delicious vegan recipes, ending with an introduction to the world of specialty coffee, and many more ingredients which made us leave with the desire for coming back. It was definitely the best stay ever! Thank you Sara and John!

What an amazing time at Sara's and John's Casa we had! Every morning starts with a lovely self made breakfast to which they add ingridients from their garden or from the local food market. Sara & John are outstanding hosts, we loved chatting with them and also getting tips and information on local traditions (food, drinks, festivals, sightseeing). We would return to this place immediaetly and meeting them again is a must have for the next visit of Madeira. All the best from us ❤️

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Sara and John's place with my boyfriend, and I must say, the hosts were truly extraordinary. Not only did they provide a comfortable and enjoyable stay, but they also left a lasting impression with their incredible warmth, welcoming spirit, and fascinating stories. From the moment we arrived, they greeted us with open arms, creating an immediate sense of belonging. They had a package of essential information prepared and readily assisted us with any additional requests, generously sharing insights and tips about the island. I also fell in love with their boxer, Ziva, who is an absolute sweetheart. We were immediately struck by the attention to detail and the overall quality of the accommodation, not to mention the delightful welcome box that included a great Portuguese wine. The spaciousness of the place allowed us to move freely and comfortably, providing a sense of relaxation throughout our stay. The breakfasts provided were truly lovely- we had the pleasure of selecting our preferences each day. The ingredients used were sourced from local shops, farmers, and even neighbors, ensuring a fresh and delightful culinary experience. The presentation of the breakfast spread was beautifully done. To top it off, my boyfriend was treated to a different specialty coffee each day. What made the breakfast experience even more memorable was the delightful company and engaging conversations we had with our hosts. Not to mention the joy of having Ziva assisting us every day. We thoroughly enjoyed starting our days in the company of our hosts, and it added an extra layer of enjoyment to our overall stay. Finding a place hosted at such a great level is not common, and it truly was a treat. However, what we cherish most is the opportunity to have met such remarkable people, and our hope to see them again goes beyond empty phrases. We wholeheartedly recommend Casa Vida Alegra, and it holds a special place in our hearts.

The couple we stayed with gave us a very warm welcome. It felt like home. There was incredibly good breakfast and a top organized folder with information about good restaurants, sights and hiking routes. Right at the beginning we got a short tour of the village, in which everything was explained to us.
