How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

This a great neighborhood to stay. Lovely neighborhood park right outside with 2 cafe/qiosks for wake-up coffee and pastry and nightcap. Good buskers, and enough cafes, pubs, restaurants, but not to the point of tourism glut. A bit noisy till late, butpart of the ambience.

Room was a bit small, had to move some armchairs around to be able to get to the bed.
Great Breakfast buffet, and decor. Nice location overlooking a park.

No ar conditioning and no elevator in some rooms. Pay attention to it when you book a room. The reception address has changed and I was not informed previously. No flexibility in the check-in hour.

No airco in the room. However a fan was available. But on a day of 39 degrees Celsius this does not work. Booking.com before booking does not show the exact room you book where this normally is the case on the booking.com website. So hotel can choose room as they like to accomodate you.

The place needed some maintenance as often happens the term “character” is used to hide issues. Our shower leaked on the floor and you could see the timber starting to go black and signs of mould appearing. No air conditioning was a problem as we stayed I. Summer with very high temperatures but I was aware of this when I booked, something to consider.
It was in a good safe and clean location close to the metro with a great park and bar just across the road. The staff were amazing and the breakfast was wonderful.

The bed was a bit small. I was staying with my son So it would have been nice to have a bit wider bed.

The elevator is very small and a bit scary with heavy luggage!
Fantastic location for exploring Lisbon. Good range of food options for breakfast. Staff were very friendly and gave us good advice for where to visit etc. Lots of excellent restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk.

The shower was very difficult to operate and no hot water. Luckily it was summer and hot weather. There was a very noisy pump behind the toilet and no soap supplied.
The location opposite a park and close to the botanical gardens. Breakfast was excellent.

It was extremely warm over the days I was there and with the room facing the street and a bar across the street noisy to open the window. But also noisy from the ventilation that the room offered. Perhaps a future investment in AC would not be bad.
Such nice decoration! I really loved that the radio was on with some kind of jazz when entering the room. The record player with the albums in the genral room was also a very nice touch.

Shower area had a smell issue.
Perfect Location. Beautiful area. Easy to reach to and explore from. Beautifully decorated. Extremely comfortable bed. The room upgrade was hugely appreciated. Simplest thing like providing free drinking water speaks volumes. The location is upmarket, with a choice of loads of restaurants and bars further down the hill.

The main issue for me was no air conditioning. I thought it was listed as an amenity - I don't remember now but I did think all my hotels on this trip would have aircon. It was a very hot week in Lisbon so I was uncomfortably hot and couldn't properly cool off. The property seems very old and, while well-maintained, the stairwell had kind of an old smell that wasn't offensive but wasn't what I wanted from my hotel.
The staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming! The decor was beautiful and I loved my room. Everything was very comfortable and spacious.

Some of the rooms are better than others, and the price doesn't necessarily reflect this proportionately.
the staff were very attentive and helpful - especially Sheila, who was not only very efficient in tending to my needs (like switching rooms), but also just lovely to speak to. Also, it's in the perfect area. Principe Real is absolutely stunning.

A guide to the TV channels would be helpful to prevent an extended period of scrolling through dozens of channels to get to 265/266 CNN and Sky News! With no A/C in the room, the fan needs to be fully operational, mine worked but didn't swivel. Sorry for not telling you immediately whilst there as I should have!
I've stayed here multiple times, so it is pretty obvious I love the place! I received a very warm welcome from Miguel and farewell from Sheila. The room (Nº 6) was fine, quiet, comfy bed, with nice views around the cranes! Location is outstanding.
