Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainNothing, all was great
Amazing guest house ruled by a couple Janine and her husband, who are super kind. The house is amazing, all details are taking into consideration for a very relaxed stay: the outstanding decoration mixing tradicional furniture with contemporary style, the amazing smell in the house and the very quiet atmosphere. The room is huge and cosy. Breakfast is very good with fresh fruit and juice, fresh bread and bakery (bought every morning) and great coffee. Location is in a very quiet street out of the center of Tavira, but you can get to the center in 5 minutes by car. Also very close to Portimao. Really recomendable for those who looks for relaxation and disconnection. I Will repeat here for sure, if coming back to Tavira

SlovakiaI can only mention a few minor points – the fan did its best, but it was still quite warm at night, even with the window wide open. However, we’ll resolve this ourselves next time, as we plan to visit Portugal during the off-season. The bed felt a little too soft for me, but that’s simply because I’m accustomed to sleeping on a firmer mattress and one last thing – no matter how careful I was, there was always water outside the shower after I used it. However, none of these details change my overall opinion that this accommodation is wonderful, and I will happily recommend it.
My boyfriend and I chose this accommodation because we don’t like the hustle and bustle of the city, but we still wanted to be close to the beaches. Perfectly located, with everything within easy reach, though having a car was essential. We spent 5 nights here, and based on that, I can say: we always had a place to park, every morning I enjoyed a great breakfast, the very kind owners provided us with beach umbrellas, and the room had a fridge and a hairdryer. The common areas always smelled absolutely lovely, and I’m curious to know what the fragrance was—I forgot to ask :( I truly appreciate the owners' attentiveness; they really made an effort to ensure we felt great, and they succeeded. Thank you very much for the pleasant stay, we would gladly return in the future.

United KingdomThe showery mornings...it was warmer in the UK at the time!
Jeanine and Francisco were the most wonderful hosts - they couldn't do more for us! We arrived on the Black Out Day and they arranged for their daughter to feed us and look after us that evening. We enjoyed talking about the drama of it all as the week went on. Being busy with their jobs and chores, they left us alone, unless we wanted to engage of course, so we never felt like we had to perform and be social. But when we did chat we always had a lot to talk about and they are a lovely, interesting couple. It felt like a home from home, or like we were staying with long established friends. And a special mention to Pippa the golden lab, who only speaks Dutch, who liked to sit on our balcony watching the world go by! Gorgeous girl! Our cottage was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs. It was a joy to sit in the pretty courtyard garden in the morning with a glass of their delicious freshly squeezed orange juice, or in the evening sunshine with a glass of wine - watching the spring birds, including swifts and swallows, darting around the skies and rooftops of Montes Alvor. Thank you for our stay Jeanine and Francisco - we will recommend your pretty guest house to all who will listen and will may very well be back! xx

DenmarkJust a few minor, possible improvements: - Perhaps some (more) hooks on the walls for hanging jackets, coats and (shoulder)bags - Another small table, besides the nightstands, would've been nice, although there might not be enough room for it. - Taking a shower in the bathtub left huge amounts of water on the bathroom floor, even though we tried our best to avoid it; perhaps another setup for taking a shower would be a good solution - some practical instalments to prevent the water from spilling down on the floor. - Towel bars, a towel rack or a towel stand in the bathroom would also be an improvement. - I'm very sensitive to smells, and the wooden wardrobe had a rather peculiar, pungent smell, so we didn't use it for our clothes, even though it was a beautiful piece of furniture.
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Largo do Poço Guesthouse immensely. Jeanine and Francisco are incredibly kind, helpful and warm people. We felt very relaxed in their presence, and they were very attentive and foreseeing towards our needs. The breakfast was good, the rooms were spacious (especially the bathroom!), the beds comfortable and the interior design and decoration beautifully composed with rustique Portuguese references. We'd love to come visit again :-)

PortugalNothing to note.
We had a great stay - the hosts are extremely welcoming and nice, the room is comfortable and has everything you need (kitchen, a nice terrace, right next to the plunge pool and breakfast area). The area is very quiet but just a 5-minute ride away from the village of Alvor and 10 from some beautiful beaches. There are a few restaurants and cafes just a few minutes by foot. Would come back for sure!

BelgiumAs I suffer a bit from heat, air conditioning would be an asset
The owners are just fantastic and the place is very peaceful and nicely decorated. The breakfast looks great (we didn’t have it). The little pool a pleasure in the hot afternoons. House is located in the center of the tiny village, so a bit noisy given the village’s garbage collector in front and the skydive aérodrome 50m away.
