Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe loved our stay at Casas de Pedra The location is perfect, slightly cooler than the coast, not far from a supermarket and easy to reach the main routes for walks etc. The self catering breakfast was great, some mornings we left early for a sunrise/walk and other we could have a lay-in with not set time for breakfast. The bread and fresh fruit were lovely, we were given a great selection and generous quantity of breakfast options. The room was cleaned and beds made up daily, the room facilities had everything we could need. The host were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay!

RomaniaThere were weird sounds in our bedroom coming from the walls like birds or maybe something else scratching the roof tiles or wood panels, I am not sure.
Excellent location close enough to Funchal and the motorway to easily get wherever you wanted to go. The staff were attentive and we found the house spotless and the pantry resupplied everyday after we returned. Quite surroundings and a private access road which made everything feel more intimate.

NetherlandsNot a single thing.
This B&B is a true gem! We have rarely experienced such excellent care. The attention to detail is remarkable, and everything has been professionally executed and thoughtfully designed. We received a warm welcome and had the pleasure of enjoying a cozy and fully equipped B&B for three days. If we ever return to Madeira, we will undoubtedly come back to this B&B.

Czech Republiceverything was great
A small house in the garden is located in the hills just a few minutes from Funchal. In the large garden there is another house for rent and the house where the owners live. Enough privacy is ensured. The garden is beautiful, carefully maintained, lots of flowers, trees - a small botanical garden :-) The owners are very nice people, they advised, helped... The house is spacious enough for two people, very well furnished, we had everything we needed. Spacious bed, clean towels every day, toiletries available. Only the bathrobe was a bit small for 194cm :-) Very clean, perfectly cleaned. Every day! And every day breakfast in the fridge. Juices, delicious fresh pastries, fruit, jam, ham, cheese, eggs, coffee capsules... Due to the weather it was cold, but the house has heating, air conditioning (which also heats) and an American stove + wood. We really enjoyed the week. And if we return to Madeira, the choice of accommodation is clear.

United Kingdombreakfast tea, but not an issue as I bring my own.
A little paradise! Quiet and secluded haven in a lovely garden. Close to a good 'levada'walk and bus to Funchal. Delightful owners, kind yet discrete, enourmously helpful and friendly. Do it yourself breakfast with all the ingredients ready in the fridge, fresh bread daily. Possibility to cook a dinner. Enormously restful. I hope to be able to come again.

United KingdomWe were looking for a quiet relaxing holiday and so Casas de Pedra was perfect for us.
The cottage and our hosts were delightful. We enjoyed the local walks along the levada, the delicious breakfasts, the well equipped kitchen, the sunny balcony and the log fire. It was very peaceful and the surrounding gardens were just beautiful. We used the regular bus service to Funchal but could have seen more of Madeira if we had hired a car.

CanadaAmazing property, exceptional hosts(Filomena & Pedro) & lovely staff. Pedro is an avid gardener & it shows. Very clean little Casa, well equipped, good breakfast ingredients (self cooking). Also very close to a levada for walks. My only regret is that we only stayed here 3 nights.

Excellent place to stay in Madeira! Everything was perfect: nice house, beautiful garden, quiet location, ocean on the horizon! Self-catering breakfast was a hit - We had everything needed delivered every day and we could prepare it when we wanted - especially useful when you want to leave early to avoid crowd on trails.

United StatesI’m giving Casa de Pedra all 10’s based on the caring they provided when our flight to Madeira was cancelled. They were very concerned, wanted to keep track of our flight status and were then concerned about us driving in the dark to the apartment. They even offered to come to the airport so we could follow them and not get lost.

United KingdomWe had a fantastic stay at Casas de Pedra. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and respectful. The dogs are lovely and always a joy to see them at the start of the day! The Camellia is a perfect cottage - it is well equipped, in a private location, and the surroundings peaceful and beautiful. The breakfast is plentiful and tasty, and the attention to detail and cleaniness excellent. There are good bus connections to Funchal, there is a great local levada walk, and the cottage is well placed for driving to explore the island, with local shops and the airport within easy reach. We will definitely return! Thank you for a lovely stay.

GermanyThere were two armchairs, but we missed something like a couch to relax. That's complaining on a high level.
Very lovely cottage in a quiet and natural surrounding. Daily cleaning and very nice breakfast (for self-preparing) with coffee, bread, eggs, cheese, yoghurt and fruits. Two friendly, mature dogs on the estate. No vermin in these heights.

PortugalI can’t find anything. Maybe, if you’re not on a car, might be difficult.
It’s a paradise! I would say that it’s one of the best experiences during our traveling. It’s beautiful, calm, clean and so cozy. We stoked the fireplace everyday and enjoyed our vacation. Also, I want to highlight the high level of service! They proposed a check in any time because house was already free, they cleaned room everyday (!) when we were outside. Breakfast is really good!
