We loved everything

Beautiful guest house in an idyllic setting overlooking the Douro River. Hostess Manuela was gracious and truly made us feel at home. Not just breakfast but dinner served was amazing accompanied by local wines. Wonderful “miradouros” and scenic villages near by. We can’t wait to return to Casa de Alpajares

Not one thing!

Location, secure parking, the room was amazing the bathroom was the size of some hotel rooms we have stayed in. The whole place was clean, and smelled gorgeous. The owner and daughter could not do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Dinner and breakfast were lovely. The ambience was beautiful and had views that took your breath away. This place is a must visit!

Incredible view over the valley and the river! Also, Manuelas cooking was excellent. The Spa was also fully functional except for the Turkish bath and very nice.

The view is amazing. The hosts were very friendly and did everything to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. Dinner made to order at a time suitable to us and great local wine. Room was a good size with a huge bed and great view.

A really luxury, beautiful place to stay... (I wish I had stayed more than one night). Very dog friendly. Amazing facilities and breakfast. Great English speaking owner. Short walk into lovely town with bars, restaurants etc.

Negative Points: Minibar: The absence of a bar and the distance from the town make the minibar an essential convenience, which in this case was notably absent. Bathroom: In the Bridal Suite, the bathroom is, to say the least, strange. The fact that the toilet and shower do not have any separation, and the access door is made of completely transparent glass, makes "number two" a public spectacle as it faces the bed. Sun Loungers: There are many, are well-preserved, but in my opinion, a bit too ergonomic. Sunbathing on your back is perfect, but on your stomach, it becomes very uncomfortable. Breakfast: While all the products offered were of excellent quality and tasty, some things were missing, such as bacon, mini sweets, and other types of coffee besides instant coffee. Breakfast Time: Very late, at 09:00. It's hard to understand, as we are in a region with no nightlife, meaning people go to bed early and wake up early. Especially on the day of check-out, it makes it difficult to enjoy the accommodation's amenities, as the early morning is lost, and after breakfast, it's almost time to get ready to leave.

Positive Points: Location: Although a bit far, it is still close enough to the center, providing a perfect blend of tranquility and accessibility. Views: The landscape of the pool area is breathtaking, truly stunning. Infinity Pool: Nice size, well-maintained, and of course, with an incredible view, very Instagrammable. Exclusivity: The fact that it only has 4 bedrooms makes the place very quiet and relaxing. In our case, we had the pool almost entirely to ourselves. Room: We opted for a standard room, but we were offered an upgrade to the Bridal Suite at no cost. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and very wide, the bed linen of excellent quality, more than enough closets, but the highlight was the huge octagonal bathtub in front of the window overlooking the Douro. Hospitality: D. Manuela was an excellent host, very friendly, and always concerned about our well-being.

A challenge to find as it is out of village up a small step hill, however well worth the effort.

The on site cooked meals were exceptional, the rooms were clean with a great shower. The views from our room and restaurant across the valley was superb.

Lovely welcome from Manuela! Everything was beautiful and clean, beautifully presented and the views were stunning. Sadly we weren't there long enough to enjoy the facilities (pool, jacuzzi) but we hope to one day!

The status of the property should be updated because the spa facilities weren't available and that was the reason why my expectations were not exceeded. Otherwise it was a wonderfull recharging experience.

The bathroom looked beautiful in smoked glass but when lying in bed, you could see the other person on the toilet. (Possibly just in our room)

Beautiful views, enjoyed the infinity pool , staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfast, again with views over the mountains and the Douro. Secure parking. Granite thought gave a very luxurious feel to the house. Short (but steep ) walk into town to an excellent restaurant
