Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

UkraineNot soundproof at all). The nearest bar or restaurant is about 500m far, but there is no pedestrian area almost, so this was a bit inconvinient in the evening. Plz guys put at least one more table in public zone for those who work 🙂
Everything was so cute and comfy, enjoyed breakfast, all zones are decorated very cool and tasteful. Nice little swimming pool and patio space.

NetherlandsVery nice pool with towels! Location is just perfect in Sintra, 10 min walking to centre, if come by car the hotel. Is just at the point where the street goes one way.... The busy part. But from the hotel. You still can turn around and drive back and be fast!

United KingdomThere was a slight underlying smell of damp, which I understand isn’t entirely the hotel’s fault. Local friends explained that Sintra’s unique microclimate means there’s often moisture in the air during the cooler months, and many buildings deal with this passively until the dry summer sets in. The hotel uses air fresheners to mask it, but more sensitive guests might find it off-putting. I’d recommend visiting later in the summer when the climate is drier.
After three days of train travel to reach Sintra, I was genuinely surprised by the size and comfort of my room given the rate I paid. This boutique hotel is full of charm and fits perfectly within the romantic atmosphere of the town. I only stayed one night, but I left wishing I had booked a longer visit — I could easily imagine spending a month here writing a novel. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, adding to the overall welcoming and relaxed feel of the place.

United StatesReception is not manned all the time, so leaving bags for example can be tricky, and if you leave your keys, you can be in trouble trying to get back into the property. The parking situation is not easy.
The property has character, the dining room is lovely, location is close enough to the action but not in the middle of the crowded area

United StatesIt is a very well kept upgraded old house , very clean, with old frescos in the eating area, a gorgeous back garden With a pool. Staff is super friendly. The only down side was that it’s not so close to the center and it’s difficult to get transportation other than Bolt. You have to walk to town to eat about 10 min. The breakfast is great in a gorgeous room with old frescos. Reception people are very relaxed. Many times they ate not there but you can call them to a WhatsApp number and they come in about 10 min.

FinlandWell, the walk from the train station was all up-hill so maybe if you have heavy luggage like we did, grab a taxi instead of walking. We walked and the way up was really pretty but in the heat, not the smartest move but that's really on us and not the guesthouse haha!
A really warm and cozy guesthouse. Breakfast was nice and rooms and pool area were super cute. On Sunday, there was a nice little market close by which was a lovely surprise!

New ZealandDefinitely not great if you’ve driven in as parking is hard to come by and the check in process wasn’t ideal as having to call 15 minutes before arrival wasn’t possible as we were driving. That said the staff arrived within 10 minutes and were pretty quick to check us in.
The location was better than expected and our room was incredibly comfortable and warm. The breakfast was an added bonus and if we were staying longer we would have loved to take advantage of the pool and terrace. The building is charming and the room was well furnished.

CanadaYou need to call set up arrival time but when we had no control over customs line of 2 hours. Which made us miss our ride. Then were forced to find a new way to inn. To find no one around left a note that we had pre booked tour we would be back after. They left us a note we got but no room number or key so we lay down on the couches to wait for someone to let us in to our room. Once we connected they were wonderful and helpful. Trouble getting our phones to work unable to call. Lucky we had what’s app and uber app they saved us a lot of headaches we just had not used them before this trip.
It is a beautiful old building. Our room had shutters and black out curtains that you need to block out early morning traffic heading to Old town. We could walk from our hotel to Quinta Regalara one of our tours. Breakfast were included and had the best ever croissant in a lovely breakfast room. Uber arrange your self works well affordable to get to all tours.

South AfricaI couldnt inform the manageress 15 minutes before I arrived as I have no wifi if not in an wifi area. I ran the bell many times then waited over an hour with other guests who has notified the lady ahead. It was cold and this wasnt pleasant. There was no apology from her whatsoever. No coffee nor milk was available in the bedroom. I requested I leave luggage on the last day and made a time to collet at 4. Once again I waited another hour! No apology!!!

CanadaQuite frankly us as well as other guests, we kept outside until someone showed up. Seemed to be challenging to be greeted even when we notified of our arrival time in advance. Given keys with little feeling of a welcome to Sintra vibe.
A nice location walkable to centro, and many nice restaurants in area. Very unique and lots of character befitting of a town like Sintra. Can walk downhill easily to train station as well. Very nice breakfast options, self serve in a setting with white linens. Clean safe neighborhood.

United KingdomLovely old Sintra house in aa pleasant location near to everything. Sintra is built into a mountain. Be prepared to climb up and down lots of Ubers etc. Reasonable cost. Old houses have old drains. Occasionally a little smelly. Nothing like as bad as some on here have made out. Overall a great place to stay.
