Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesVery old, beautiful building and some mold/mildew naturally builds up and possibly caused us some allergy-like symptoms. If you're sensitive to mold, watch out!
Good sized room with beautiful view of the city from window. Clean, spacious. Nice amenities and having snacks and beer at welcome was nice touch.

United StatesInitial communications were excellent; however, when it came time to check in and request an earlier time, there was none, and then the key code to the lockbox had been changed and not communicated. Had it not been for the cleaning service, we would have been waiting awhile. Another guest had the same problem. Fortunately, we were able to help them out. I'm sure this was a minor snafu, and not reflective at all on the quality of the property.
Loved this place! The accommodation was exactly as advertised, and the location couldn't have been better. For our getaway, this was a perfect fit. We loved the mix of modern touches with historical antiquity this building offered. Be prepared to eat your way through Porto. The food and city were amazing

United KingdomAs others have mentioned the room can be a bit noisy at times due to the traditional aspects that have been kept and the street outside can be noisy.
The apartment is in a brilliant location, right amongst historic Porto! The room is spacious with everything you need and very comfortable, and has many of the old features preserved which are beautiful. The hosts were also very informative.

United KingdomStreet noise and a lot of noise from the creaking floorboards of the people in the apartment above. Kitchen space and cooking facilities very limited. Only one pan on the hob at once and kitchen tap didn’t seem to run hot. Some furnishings very cheap looking eg ‘wardrobes’ which spoiled the overall aesthetic a bit.
Superb location close to the waterfront in Ribeira. Spacious attractive bedroom.

CanadaTo be clear these arent things we didnt like it's just some things to be aware of. There are A LOT of stairs. this is NOT an accessible property. Parking was also a little sketchy but we lucked out with some street parking for free. I dont see that happening in the busier seasons however. Our room was very clean but It was VERY small and few more mirrors would be helpful :) there were only two little squares in the bathroom and I'm 5'11" my spouse is 6'2" so we had to crouch to see ourselves. Given the lack of space there should be more hooks everywhere. Also the rooms backs on to these stairs which are a landmark but my goodness they were noisy at all hours. Closing the window wasnt really an option because it was so hot even with the fan. I think bunk beds would suit this room beautifully and provide much needed space.
The building has been lovingly restored I think from 17 or18th century. This is very impressive and difficult I imagine. The whole place is very cool, very clean and the hosts kindly left us some welcome goodies that were very much appreciated after a long drive. We stayed in the Esnoga room. There's a gorgeous little café on the main floor fabulous coffee and great pastries in the morning and the service is great! The location of this apartment is fantastic. It was quite hot for the season and a fan was provided without having to ask. The hosts were super responsive to any questions we had. This place is really special and Im glad we got to stay here. If you're tall book a room with a balcony I can only assume the other side of the building was bigger. :) There was a little loft area that we couldnt access but looked interesting.

United Arab Emirates- There is no air condition, it’s very hot and you can’t sleep we had to use extra small fan to feel a bit cool in the room. Thank to the cleaning lady in the building she got us extra small fan, and if you open the windows to cool the room to much noise. - Poor bed. they should put proper bed and wardrobe. - For 4 days no one think to check on us if we need to change the bed shit or change bathroom towel.

SwedenI can not complain about anything I am more than satisfied with this visit. However, there was a communication problem at the check-in but the renter gave me everything I wanted so I am a very satisfied customer. I believe this communication problem is a more general problem than renting an apartment in Portugal! There is also a small warning I would like to mention the floor in the apartment is four to five centimeters higher than the floor outside the door to the stairs, Be careful then leaving the apartment so you do not fall (in the absolute worst case down the stairs)!
This is a fantastic apartment in the city center of Porto with a nice view of a landmark from the balcony. The building is from the 16th century for that reason there is no lift, you need to take the stairs to the fourth floor. I used the apartment Dardo! There are many stairs and you must turn on the light several times! The stairs are narrow but much easier to walk in than I expected! I am retired but carried 30 kg of luggage to the fourth floor easily! The Dardo apartment i very nicely renovated and the old structure from the 16th century is very well-kept! There are a double bed a table and two chairs in the apartment. There is a kitchen and a fridge however I did not use these facilities. There are two chairs and a table on the balcony as well as two plastic sun chairs. The balcony seems to be in the south direction so there is sun from early morning to late afternoon. The shower was located in a separate room, there were three steps down to the shower. Hot water arrived in the shower almost immediately, indeed very good. Internet did not work at the first connection but after a second attempt, it worked very well during all the days I stayed in this apartment. The bed is very comfortable the view from the balcony is excellent. The apartment is very well located with short distances to everything but the Camphana railway station which is forty minutes away! There is an excellent breakfast restaurant five minutes from this apartment turn right walk uphill to the next road crossing, turn right again walk uphill to the next road crossing at the corner to the right is the breakfast restaurant. The renter was very service-minded and allowed me to arrive earlier than check-in time and leave later than check-out time very appreciated.

CanadaWhen you enter the building it smells very bad. And that smell can be felt in the room we had to open the windows all the time. There was not enough lighting in the room. Shower had this open design that gets the floors wet. There is no Kettle in the room which was needed mostly. The pan was burnt couldn’t use it

United KingdomThe accommodation was super central, excellent communication from Sofia who was very accommodating to extra requests. Loved the rustic feel to the apartment block, the studio was well equipped and came with complimentary super bock!! Studio 2 Esnoga was a bit compact but was grand for what we needed as we were out and about sightseeing all day! Thought I'd booked the balcony studio which was my mistake, would be good if the type of studio was made clearer when making the reservation. It was also quite warm at night being on the top floor without aircon, but we coped OK with the fan provided. Wouldn't be suitable for anyone with mobility issues or sensitive to heat.
