The hotel is a little dated, but this is part of its charm, so it's not really something to dislike. The only negative thing for me was that my room had been liberally sprayed with perfumed air freshener, and I couldn't get rid of the smell. It was so strong that it gave me a headache and I could taste it for hours. I had both windows open, and I put the do not disturb sign on the door to avoid having the cleaner come in and spray it again. Although a minor issue, it could be a real problem for someone with allergies or breathing difficulties.

Staying in this small, family run hotel was a nice change from larger hotel chains, which is why I picked it. The staff were friendly and everything was clean. We ate a nice breakfast each morning, and we had an evening meal on one of our two night stay. The pool is a good size for swimming, if a little cold, even in late summer. There is ample parking right outside and even though we arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon, we still managed to get a space (just).

Nice pool, but not clean. Poor restaurant evening meal, particularly vegetarian, only one and poor quality, yet expensive. Evening meal staff gave inaccurate information. Chipped wine glasses, and had to ask for cutlery.

A traditional family-run hotel, with a Restaurant. The rooms are a bit old fashioned but clean. There is a little garden and a very clean pool on the top. Perfect location to discover the beauty of the place and its surroundings. Enough parking space around.

An old and lovely, family run, tradtional Portuguese hotel with an absolutely gorgeous garden and pool on a steep slope in a quiet and beautiful setting. Not suitable for anyone who has problems with steps and stairs. Easy parking outside.

The entire stay was warm and welcoming. The pool, while hidden away through a gorgeous secret garden, was huge and lovely. Breakfast was tasty and coffee was great too. The Staff are accommodating and helpful. Very friendly people. Loved Monchique.

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The room was exceptionally clean, and the beds were very comfortable, though the decor felt a bit old-fashioned. The standout feature was the staff, who were exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Breakfast was good, but a bit more variety would have made it even better for our longer stay. Overall, a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. We would recommend it.

Rooms could maybe use a slight update. No lift.

Traditional and slightly old school but endearing. Lovely rear garden. Didn't use the pool but looked quite inviting. Helpful staff. Evening restaurant for dinner which is useful as the village of Caldas doesn't have too many restaurants. Inside or outside options too. Price was reasonable. Parking available.

The staff was amazing! Very friendly, approachable and eager to help anytime. They even prepared a breakfast just for us when we needed to leave the place earlier. We felt taken care of. Even thought the hotel is not the newest, it was amazingly clean! And the mattress was probably the most comfortable during our stay in Portugal so far:)

Nothing really, sometimes the traffic on the nearby road was noticeable when by the pool.

This was a return visit for us, which should say a lot. The tranquility and ambience is a delight. The breakfast is plentiful with good choices available for other meals either in Albergaria do Lageado or nearby. It's also a great base for exploring with good access to the coast or the hills.
