How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis was one of the best investments in accommodation I have ever made. It was also one of the best accommodations I have ever had the opportunity to stay in. The apartment is located in the historic center of the city, right on the most beautiful street. There are lots of amber stands, souvenirs, musicians in the afternoon, lots of people. Even though it seems to be a busy street, it was quiet at night. The noisiest were the seagulls in the courtyard. You can get here either by tram and then via Dluga Street, or it's about a 20 minute walk from the train station. Handing over the keys was fine - detailed descriptions of how, what and when to look for were sent well in advance. The landlord communicated, there was no problem. The apartment itself is on the first floor, be prepared for 4 sets of stairs, no lift. I was in awe of where I would be spending my holiday. The living room overlooks the street directly, beautiful view. Bedroom - luxury bed. Kitchen - adequately furnished (pots, knives, pan, kettle, fridge, freezer). Perfect from this point of view. Bathroom - perfect. Close to the accommodation there is also a shop, drugstore, lots of restaurants, sights, close to the dock for sightseeing routes along Motlava or to Sopot and Hel. I recommend to all who want to enrich their holiday with accommodation in one of the typical houses.

Verified reviewA fantastic apartment which was perfect in every aspect/. Piotr, the host, was extremely helpful and responded quickly to all pre-trip questions. The property was superbly maintained and everything was as described. The location was absolutely perfect for the amenities of the Old Town and was within walking distance of the train station. My wife and I found a local bar a minute away (Cafe Mariacka) and our favourite restaurant (Mezalions) was a minute in the other direction. We were so impressed that we will 100% be back as Gdansk is amazing and we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else! Everything was perfect!

Verified reviewIt is a historic building in the old town center but it is quiet. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. Overall the apartment is clean. It is on the second floor by US term, has fresh air with opening windows and a good view of amber vendors or tourists.
The stairs do not have good ventilation but it's not a big deal since the apartment is on the second floor.

Verified reviewLovely spacious, clean, modern apartment. On a beautiful street in the Old town. Easy to gain keys and access. Very quiet at night. Comfortable bed. Solo traveller so I didn’t have to try out the bed settee. Great communication with the host. I Would stay again. Thank you.
On first floor. I did not mind the stairs but some who are less able may find them a little of a challenge.

Verified reviewEverything was great. Fantastic location. Very clean. Beautiful apartment with a beautiful view through floor to ceiling windows of the romantic 'Amber' Street. Didn't have to get any taxis as all the great restaurants and museums were walking distance. The shower was soooo good: powerful, easy to control, never ran out of hot water. We visited in February, and it was snowing, so that hot shower after a long day of walking was glorious. Host was responsive and helpful. Would definitely book again. And Gdansk is a beautiful place for a holiday, even in February!
No complaints.

Verified reviewPerfect location, everything we needed for a family of four. The kids loved the huge sofa bed! The kitchen had all the appliances we needed and everything was very clean. Access and checkout was straightforward and the location could not have been better. We had the best few days! A day in Gdansk, a day exploring the castle in Malbork and a day in Sopot then the European Solidarity Centre (amazing!). We ate local food which was all excellent and great value. The perfect winter getaway.
We loved everything!

Verified reviewA beautiful, spacious apartment with a Mariacka Street view. It has a separate bedroom and a well equipped kitchen. We stayed in February, so it was blissfully quiet at all times. The location is right in the centre of Old Town, with good links to the main attractions. We used the public transport to get to Sopot, Westerplatte and Baltycka shopping centre. The rest was easily walkable. Swietego Ducha street, with some good restaurants, is a 3 minutes walk. We had a really amazing holiday, thank you.
