Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PhilippinesI like rustic accommodations, so I chose the kubo hut. I couldn't get some things to work, like the shower water heater, and they later showed me the trick. There was also a leaky valve under the toilet, which I had to turn off after the water closet had been filled up so as not to waste water that spread through the floor. I couldn't get the stove to light until later they primed it. So, those are incidental. What I didn't like most was the old, worn, sub-standard cookware where the non-stick coating had already scraped off. At least they gave me a rice cooker with a healthy stainless steel pot. The dirt road leading to the property gets muddy easily, and you have to walk through it to get to the main road to hail a ride or rent a scooter. The beachfrontage wasn't good for swimming as it was rocky. What I didn't like about Panglao, even Alona Beach, is that the city has not regulated the growth of resorts such that public beach access is extremely limited.
The staff were very accommodating. They let me stay past checkout time as the earliest flight to Manila was late afternoon. They arranged for tours and asked me upon arrival how my tour went. My first morning, they weren't very attentive to my text messages, and I needed help with the kitchen. But they apologized and became very attentive afterward. The kubo hut was air-conditioned. Scooter rental is just around the corner, as well as a Sari-Sari Store where I got cheap groceries for my stay.

FinlandLocal life around, noisy sometimes. Many dogs at beach and road. Ugly path to boat beach, not for swimming. You must ask for housekeeping, every toilet paper, new towels ... we stayed totally one week and nothing was made automatically - but it is habit in Philippines ! Not very clean. Garbage around. Our arrival was like surprice to the staff, although we had told the time. Some fixing in toilet after we got the room.
Studio 1 upstairs with big terrace was nice. Staff is nice doing its best, boss was away (has been long time). (Houses are rented 5/2024, the real owner of the houses is not any more in this business. ) Laundry service. Free drinkin water.

CanadaWithout a scooter the location isn't close to much. About 20 min walk to alona restaurants.
It's good if you get a room upgrade. Big room. Couches, fridge. Lots of Windows and you are right at the water (not really a swimming beach though). Staff is great like every place in the Philippines. Wifi in the best room is good.

ItalyI would better organize the exterior to create an area where to sit and relax
I liked the position, as it was away from the chaos of Alona beach, but close enough to get there by walk (20 min) or in 5 minutes with a tuktuk. The staff has been lovely and always ready to help, she assisted me to organize all my tours, super recommended.

PhilippinesThe property is up for sale to be bulldozed and redeveloped, which gives you a good clue about its general condition. Whilst it is beside the ocean, it is not really a beach for walking or swimming, and is basically beyond walking distance from anywhere - so you would need to have a motorcycle or transport. Plenty of stray dogs around, if you are a dog lover.
Very friendly owner (Juana). Everything worked, including air-con, internet, and even a warm shower. Kitchenette and outdoor seating area.

PolandThe roof was leaking, but it was fixed later during our stay. The smell of mold was coming from that area. It was raining everyday almost, the terrace was not covered from rain so we were sitting in the room, which was a little dark. At night there were a lot of dogs screaming, as they were killing each other.
The staff was very nice, we got a welcome beer - a big one, and it was great to have that after the long journey :) They also offer renting a motorbike, which we got for a good price.
