Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe windows don't close well so you can feel the wind and it gets cold at night. A little bit more of amenities like soap in the bathroom would have been great but it was a fair price.
Location was very convenient, only a few minutes walking to the train station but also to the city center. It was clean and the staff was kind.

United StatesWe paid on the way out, and they charged us extra to use a card (somewhat typical in Peru, but most hotels didn't add on an extra charge for using a credit card). She also increased the price by a few soles on us. (I didn't notice this at the time, but my wife caught it later).
Beds were comfortable and shower was good. Place is clean and fairly updated and in a good location - close to things, but not overly noisy. Breakfast was decent.

United StatesWe had some issues with windows and curtains not closing fully, and the shower was moldy. It was comfortable enough, but pretty bare bones.
Very centrally located, easy to get to the main plaza, the ruins, and the train all within a 10 minute walk. The owners were very kind and accommodating.

United StatesVery minimal accommodations, but everything I needed for a 1 night stay.
The owners were so kind to open the doors at 230AM so I could sleep a few hours before my train to Machu Picchu after travel plans went awry. Thank you again!

GermanyCan get a bit noisy in the mornings, as the hotel is located next to the road leading to the train station, so from 5 am on every 15-30 minutes, several buses pass to bring the tourists to the train.
Hotel is close to Ollantaytambo center and ruins as well as the train station. Rooms are clean and comfortable. They serve breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful.

CanadaPrice and overall everything were nice, but i have to admit some négative points: - very basic breakfast - no heating in the room, so cold floors and you have to sleep under 2+ blankets - hot water only in the shower, not in the sink - constant noise from nearby river - sometimes there are nobody at réception But again it's ok.
Nice family hôtel very close to Ollantaytambo train station, so you don't need to walk much in the morning if you go to Machu Picchu. Close to center area as well. Room with the perfect mountain view. Very nice and helpful personnel. Clean room and bathroom.

CanadaAdditional pillows and another chair would be nice. We don't speak Spanish so communication with host was more challenging.
Location backs onto river with view of mountains and fields. Room is large with windows out both sides of building. Breakfast was breads with jam, eggs, coffee and tea. Bathroom was good. Great price for basic accommodation.

United KingdomThe room wasn’t cleaned after the first day and be aware of mosquitoes (not the fault of the property).
Great location for the train station! Room was huge and the shower was fantastic once up to temperature. The owners were so helpful, even arranging a second taxi when ours did not arrive.

United StatesDecent hotel for the price. Well worth the stay.
If you do not want to spend a lot of money staying in this small town while you're traveling to or from Machu Picchu, this is a great option. The hotel is right between the train station and the small plaza square and is the least expensive option that we could find that was decent. The so tell us for more of a younger traveler that don't need or expect much and just need the basics.

United StatesCleanliness could be much improved. The room has lots of ants apparently as in the morning they were in all my things. The bathroom was not throughly cleaned either. The toilet was especially dirty. We did inform reception about the toilet and they immediately apologized and cleaned it.
The location was convenient for taking an early morning train and the main plaza was only about 300-400 meters away. The price was also good.

HungaryIt was cold in the winter season. Don't stay here if you cannot bear 10-14 degrees Celsius in the morning.
It wasn't too far from the center, but we had some trouble finding the building, since it was changed since the images they shown here. The room was basic, but faced to the ruins which was spectacular. Some people might not like it, but I liked that the river was right next to the building, so we kept hearing the flow.

United StatesWe stayed in several cities in Peru, and the most common thing I noticed was the traffic and dog barking noise throughout the night and this place was no exception.
The property was clean and spacious, perfect for a family of four and had a private bathroom. Our room had mountain & ruins view and there was a small river next to the hotel. Prime location, with the plaza and railway station just a few minutes’ walk away. Good breakfast , We had to leave early in the morning for Machu Picchu, so the host thoughtfully packed a to-go breakfast for all of us. We used laundry service at the hotel and it was good.
