Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHot water for showers wasn't 'on tap' and had to be asked for in the evening.
Excellent location in the centre of town. Our rooms were at the side of the hotel so we were not impacted by the noise from the town square. Breakfast was excellent and a boxed breakfast was provided when we had a very early start on our last morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful views. Room was very clean and comfortable and with a balcony overlooking the river - can’t get better than that when falling asleep at night. Staff prepared breakfast for us since we had an early trip.

United KingdomBreakfast room small and busy. Found the room cold on occasions - tried the heating but it seemed to be centrally controlled.
The hotel and room setting was lovely - next to a fast flowing river. Direct walk (down hill) to the railway station and not far from an Inca site - which we could see from our balcony. Staff very helpful. Breakfast was fine but breakfast room small and busy so struggled to find a table.

United StatesI booked this location for the river outside the balcony as I wanted some white noise to fall asleep easier. Well, there was construction going on outside which meant there was no water. I wish they had let me know in advance. Also some language barriers (I speak limited Spanish). I would stay here again though as the construction is temporary.
The room was spacious. My balcony was nice with pretty flowers. Breakfast was good. The location was convenient. The staff was very helpful storing my luggage before and after my stay. They also did my laundry.

United StatesMy only comment is that, since we had a room right on one of the external greenspaces/sitting spaces, we did have some little sugar ants that made their way into my snack bag. It ended up being fine, and it's truly sometimes just part of the deal, but ants are never fun. This could probably have been avoided if we kept the window shut but we wanted some fresh air. There was a heater in the room but no fan, and even in the winter it gets hot in Peru :)
This family-run hotel was a great place to be located for four nights. My mom and I stayed in the Family Room which gave us extra space, the water was hot and water pressure was great, and breakfast was delicious! The hotel had filtered water for free so you could fill up your water bottles, and they were super helpful in getting us a taxi from Ollantaytambo to Cusco when we headed out. The beds were great, too. If you're on the fence about the sacred valley, definitely do it! Ollantaytambo was such a beautiful, ancient town, and Sol Ollantay is very central. Everywhere my mom and I ate was about a three minute walk away, and you are only a 7 minute walk from incredible Inca ruins.

RomaniaInternet connection didn't work so well. They had an electricity outage for half a day in the entire town, but even after that got fixed, the internet worked poorly, so I don't think it was connected.
Location was great, we received a room with direct view to the famous steps/temple of Ollantaytambo. Room was veey spacious, perfectly heated for the winter time. Hot water running, big screen tv and everything you needed, 1 step away as you went outside. They also prepared breakfast to go for us, as we were leaving early - thanks to the staff!

New Zealand- Weak wi-fi made it impossible making overseas calls. They gave us a booster for the room. - On our first morning we had no hot water. We saw Derek at reception about it and he quickly ran to their basement, came back and advised us that we should have hot water now … which we did. We are sure he had forgotten to turn a switch on for hot water to our room. - Derek always appeared to be busy, dis-organised and rushing around. He kept us waiting 20 mins after check in time to give us a room. We forgave him because our room was so lovely. - Breakfast was disappointing. Everything was pre-made and sitting in dishes. There was no waiting staff in the breakfast area so guests had to fend for themselves. They did voluntarily offer us a packed lunch on the morning we went to Machu Picchu.
We had a corner room on the ground floor. It was very sunny, spacious, had its own private patio with very comfortable seating and stunning views over the fortress. The bed was a king and was exceptionally comfortable. The location was very good as it was close to the cafes, restaurants, market, pharmacy, grocery stores, shops and an easy 10min walk to the railway station (to catch the train to Machu Picchu).
