Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI wish we stayed longer! This stop on our trip around Peru was an unexpected highlight. The staff was incredibly accommodating, the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, everything was clean. We even had a good internet connection. But the real highlight was the view and the experience of just being there. We initially stayed here to avoid having to get up so early to make it to the Cruz del Condor in the morning, but we ended up skipping it altogether and just watched the condors from the viewing points at the hotel. Exploring the property, taking in the views, hanging out with a drink in front of the wood-burning fireplace, having dinner and breakfast with the other guests, it was wonderful!

CanadaThe views were spectacular - they make the hotel a destination, not just a stop on your way to somewhere else. The hospitality is warm, welcoming, and attentive. The animals are a bonus!

United StatesWe only have one major complaint: the food. Prices here are 25% or more higher than other nearby lodges/restaurants. The hotel does do some dishes well: Lomo Saltado and most of the chicken dishes. AVOID at all costs: the soup (watery...even the vegetable soup had tiny pieces of squash, carrots etc - and they market themselves as a farm!); avoid the pizza (perhaps enough food for one person - at $8 USD); spaghetti (way overpriced) and the desserts. We found the vegetables as part of the main course either overcooked or undercooked (as we watched the kitchen they put all carrots, broccoli, onions and whatever else into boiling water - consequently everything got the same amount of cooking time). No accompanying sauce/butter so vegetables tended to be very chewy and no taste; In defense of the cook - she works 6am to 9pm seven days per week...for about 8 months per year (and she also makes up/cleans the rooms). Breakfasts were the same everyday - an avocado, some cheese...rolls that could be stale or just OK...and one scrambled egg. Juice could be 90% water or sometimes better. Anyway, food is not the strong point of this place - if you can go elsewhere by all means do so for meals. I'll end on a positive note: staff is friendly (Edgar who is the general manager) is AMAZING. He is knowledgeable, polite, really smart - ask him anything and you will get a fine detailed answer. Finally, (for birders) in the evening after dark, look for Banded Winged Nightjars perched on the spigots of the field adjacent to the main building)...other raptors flying past: American Kestrels, Variable Hawk, Mountain Caracara (uncommon) - a few Giant Hummingbirds (many more at the nearby Mirador and easier to photograph there as well). Would we stay here again? ABSOLUTELY - but we would bring food and eat elsewhere whenever possible. To re-state: you will need 4-5 days here to get your best Condor photos (and determine the best places to position yourself for the best angles).
We stayed for 5 nights in late June (winter - cold at night!) 2025. We came as bird photographers (we are PhD scientists in ornithology) to see/photograph the Andean Condors. FIRST, as everyone writes, the view from the lodge as well as the trails that run along the ridge to various miradors (sheltered overlooks usually with some kind of seating) is phenomenal...really really phenomenal. You should visit this lodge just for the view; SECOND - if you can stay in the higher end rooms...besides the view - the infrastructure is better: we had friends staying in the lower priced room and the problem they encountered most was the water did not drain from the shower. So, when the water finally got hot from the showerhead, there was lots of cold water still at their feet (like 4-5 inches). They hated taking hot showers standing in cold water; THIRD - Basics: our high end room (about $40-$45 USD/night) had ample room...and very nice warm blankets...there is no heat in the room, and they do NOT provide a portable heat (plug-in electric heater common in other hotels in Colca Canyon) - but the blankets we had were warm enough..and lightweight (high quality). Hot Water: take your shower in the afternoon (about 1pm to 5pm) - though the hotel claims 24 hr hot water...we got at best lukewarm water at night. In the afternoons on some days we got wonderful unlimited hot water (so we had to mix in some cold), and on other days (probably with multiple people staying), the water was very warm - and quite fine to take an afternoon shower; Internet: really really good to exceptional in the ROOM as well as the common area..CONDORS: you'll need several days here to get good photos. Spend at least two mornings at the nearby Mirador - you'll get different looks there. Get back to Lodge by 830am, because Condors will start passing then (June), and again after 3pm approx. From 10am-3pm, heat waves will affect the focus of your camera and light is harsh.

LithuaniaThe bed sheets felt strange (but warm), the curtains were kind of see-through, there was no TV in the room as advertised. The restaurant was a bit disappointing. The hotel offered a pick-up service from the main road (where the bus drops you off on request) but it didn't go well. We had confirmed it in advance and I tried to keep them updated on my arrival time, but no one responded and no one was there when I arrived. It was already dark and I tried to get closer to the hotel. They picked me up along the way eventually. Just be aware that mobile data is very limited in that area, and the only way to reach the hotel is via a dirt road. Didn't feel safe waiting there in the dark!
Amazing location overlooking the canyon. Quiet place with beautiful panoramic spots, decorated with flowers. The accommodation itself is quite simple, my expectations were a bit higher. Although it was nice to have good WiFi in such a remote location. Of course the view is wonderful and you get a chance to spot condors without the tourist crowds! Just don't forget to bring warm clothes :)

CanadaEverything was awesome! No complaints!
This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, during over 25 years of aggressive international travel! The views, the staff, the food, the comfortable and cozy room, the hot shower and spacious bathroom, the beautiful grounds, the fast wifi - all really world class! The hotel is perched in a truly spectacular location above the colca canyon. The price is an incredible value. Couldn't recommend it more. Miles and miles better than any other accommodation option in the Cobanaconde area.

The location is perfect to experience the Canyon. They prepared Cuy for us and it was excellent. The rooms are basic but the view is to die for. The gardens are beautiful with loads of colour, and yes you will see the Condor here.

United StatesThe room facilities are basic but comfortable. Then you remind yourself you're on the edge of a massive canyon and go back to spotting condors.
We had a great stay at La Granja. The views are spectacular. We were there with our 7 y.o son and he loved the animals on the farm. The staff were very welcoming and gracious. We saw so many condors. It's truly incredible how they've created this farm+lodge at the edge of Colca canyon, would definitely recommend it.

United StatesWe had the best time at this hotel and recommend it to everyone. The owners, Walter and Pepita, and all their staff are so lovely, helpful, and their food is delicious. Also, there are alpacas, sheep and puppies on the property that are friendly. The view from the rooms and the restaurant are incredible and it's right next to the Condor Cross viewpoint. You can see as many condors here as at the viewpoint, but could also walk or drive to the viewpoint to get a closer look. And most importantly - the owners were so helpful and kind; anything you needed they found a way. We watched as they pointed out condors, fixed one guest's broken trekking backpack, and when we had car issues he coordinated someone nearby to help.

IndonesiaIt can be a little hard to get to without a car, we took the collectivo from Chivay and asked the hotel to pick us up by the entrance for a small fee. It can be a little cold at night too, but the blankets keep us warm until morning.
The view is so breathtakingly beautiful and you can see Condors from the rooms! If you love nature, highly recommended to stay here, you will not regret it! The staffs are friendly, room is clean and the meal is good.
