Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBreakfast choices were made on check in and that is what you got for the whole stay. Not a problem as long as you like eggs and they were done well. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room and although this was provided in the lobby a couple of times we went to use it there were no cups and no one at reception to ask. The property is down a lane way which at first was difficult to find. Unfortunately this lane was used as a rabbit run by motor bikes - not the property’s fault but just be aware.
The property was great value for money and the breakfast whilst limited in choice and repetitive, was tasty. The view of the volcanoes from the breakfast balcony was gorgeous. The room was on the small side and had no natural light - the window looked onto an atrium/lounge area. But the advantage of this was there was little outside noise and there was very little noise from other residents when we stayed. The manager was very helpful and gave us directions to a Banco du la Nacion (multi-red ATM) which does not charge for cash withdrawals. He also recommended a restaurant - Victoria - and the atmosphere and food was super. Property is quite close to the main square and to the excellent Alpaca museum.

GermanyAbsolutely fantastic stay at Casa de Irma! The hotel is lovely, in a perfect quiet location, with great amenities and a delicious rooftop breakfast. The highlight of our trip was a 2-day Colca Canyon tour with Reynaldo, the owner of the hotel. His SUV was super comfortable, and the tour was completely flexible at our own pace. We stopped wherever we wanted and had all the time in the world to enjoy the scenery. We saw alpacas, llamas, vicuñas, the majestic condors, relaxed in hot springs, and enjoyed great local restaurants. Reynaldo was the best guide we could wish for: patient, knowledgeable, fun, and always taking amazing photos for us with his high-resolution phone. Incredible experience and excellent value. Can only recommend staying at the hotel and also going on a tour with Reynaldo!

SwitzerlandDuring a conference in Arequipa I spend almost two weeks at Casa de Irma and I can highly recommend the hotel. It is very conveniently located, the rooms are nice and the breakfast is simple but fresh and delicious. Specifically, I can recommend bike tours organized by Reynaldo, the owner of the hotel.

NetherlandsThe room assigned was right in front of the reception facing the narrow street as it is the ground floor. This was a bit noisy and we could not really open the curtains as it would feel not private at all.
Staff was super nice and helpful, we arrived super early in the morning (5am) and they let us sleep in the couches and store our luggage until check in time. The location is very convenient, near the old town.

CanadaRoom was a bit dark and the only window faced the hallway next to 2 rooms (could be a privacy concern if there are guests staying in these 2 rooms as they have to pass your room to get to theirs -there is a curtain though).
Room was clean and hotel is quiet. Breakfast is simple but delicious.

AustraliaUnfortunately, we were travelling in winter and the hot water was tepid. The only downside to an otherwise excellent stay.
A beautiful spot with great staff and only a 5 minute walk into the historical centre. Reynaldo was excellent with communicating with me from the start and provided some wonderful suggestions.

NetherlandsBreakfast is on a very nice balcony, but the food itself could definitely be improved in terms of options, e.g. offering some variations/add-ons to the eggs.
We had a lovely stay: great location, comfortable rooms, clean, and much flexibility. Hosts were very kind and helpful, special thanks to Fiorella for her kindness and helpfulness!

New ZealandRooms face an inner courtyard and if you are a light sleeper noise from other guests and cleaning starting at 6.30 is likely to disturb you. For the same reason rooms tend to be dark and feel a little enclosed.
The place is in a great location near the old city center yet quiet and safe. Staff and hosts are friendly and I felt very well looked after. The room was very comfortable. Would definitely consider to come back.
