How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNice 2-nights stay in the guest house. No problem with the toilet outside the room - private, only 2-3 steps outside the room. Great communication with the staff. They prepared small breakfest to takeaway, when I went both the mornings to trip tours at 6 am. I could leave safely my baggages in the reception after check-out. Very close to Plaza de Armas. Many money exchanges with great rates just around the corner.

Verified reviewI arrived late at night, and it was clear that the staff was not pleased to check me in at that hour. Early the next morning, renovations began in the hostel with loud banging and grinding, filling the entire place with dust. The breakfast was very minimal and disappointing. The only positives were the location and the fact that they allowed me to adjust my booking from three nights to just one. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Verified reviewGreat location, though very noisy at night Nice terrace for breakfast. Good breakfast
My room had a private separate bathroom. The bathroom was very dirty, not cleaned after previous guests at all (they cleaned it after I mentioned). Moldy walls in shower. Mattreses and pillows are super old and all yellow and dirty, very hard to sleep. The place itself is noisy because it’s a hostel, but moreover all the noise comes from outside and doesnt stop at least before midnight.

Verified reviewIt's located close to the central town square with many tourist attractions. The bed was comfortable enough and place was clean.
Very noisy, but well located. The rooms aren't very sound proof and you need to ring a bell in order to be let in. This means that people ring the bell throughout the night, causing lost sleep. I suggest the owners provide a WhatsApp number for people to contact between usual sleeping hours (10pm-7am). Also, people chatting in the reception from 5am will wake you up. My room had a leaking tap with a constant, high-pitched "eeeeee" sound that drove me to insanity. Only hot water in the bathroom. Breakfast is very basic. For a vegetarian, you'll get toast, cheese, jam and instant coffee. Room is not serviced daily.

Verified reviewIn walking distance to everything you wanted to see Paid for an early check in
On a noisy road and the windows weren’t sufficient so very loud at night Room / bathroom wasn’t cleaned over the 4 days/, had to ask repeatedly for more toilet paper. In Latin America when dirty paper is put into the bin, I expect it to be emptied every day. Wi-fi was terrible and didn’t work in the room

Verified reviewI love the breakfast. The staff was great. Location is perfect, 1 block to the main square.
You don't have free access, you have to use the doorbell every time. If you arrive late, you may have to wait for minutes until they open de door.

Verified reviewGreat location, very close to the centre.
Terrible room layout with bathroom across the corridor, all very old and shabby - no early check-in so there was a long wait.

Verified reviewI liked the girl in the restaurant and the dinner menu, as well as the centric location. The room was beautiful and spacious with a great shower.
The breakfast to go wasn't really a breakfast and the first day it wasn't ready on the time of our departure. Restaurant hours could be a little more extended. The receptionists were much colder than in the rest of Peru.

Verified reviewVery good location and the terrace overlooking the Plaza De La Armas was beautiful, especially at sunset.
The room was small and dated, the shower leaked and the staff weren't very helpful.

Verified reviewFantastic location :) Very kind and helpful staff :) I used Maison Verte as my base in Arequipa on my first visit to Peru, a 3 month journey. They provided very secure storage for my luggage, as I took the 2 day journey up to Colca Canyon to see the Andean Condors. I stayed at Maison Verte both before and after that journey. The nice interior design elevates the common spaces. I chose Maison Verte from the list of affordable lodgings served by the Peru Hop shuttle vans. My arrival with Peru Hop was in the very early morning hours. Maison Verte allowed a 5:30 am check-in for a half-day rate. Very fair. Very much appreciated. After a nice rest, I was amazed to discover that I was staying only 1/2 block from Arequipa's beautiful white stone central plaza. Had a wonderful time sitting on the sunny benches and engaging with the friendly and curious Arequpians :) Absolutely ideal location !!! :) Access to the rooftop terrace is only for the breakfast hours, but I did go up for tea and dessert in the restaurant there, to catch the sunset views. Maison Verte's rooms are small, but functional. Very hot showers; a great plus :)
An attractive older building, like most in this area, showing some deterioration with time.
Thank you very much! We really appreciate Your comment . Have a nice travel in Perú.

The bathroom facilities - as several time mentined, quality of bathroom facilities is very poor. On top of that, the water from a sink was constantly droping! No sound isolation, you can hear everything from the hall as well from ouside, weekends are loud outside, take your earplugs!
