How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewVery good location, really close to Plaza Norte (most bus companies going to Huaraz have a stop here including Cruz del Sur) and relatively close to the Airport (at night about 20 minutes by taxi, during the day more like 50). The room itself really nice with a comfy bed. Most importantly the personnel incredibly helpful.
Nothing. All fine.

Verified reviewStaff was very attentive, and the room was spacious and comfortable. There is a mall at walking distance.
It is far from the tourist area. If you understand how to use public transportation, it is OK. Also, there is a noisy road across from it, but it didn't bother me.

Verified reviewGood value for money. Relatively close to the airport… good for a one night stay. Rooms upstairs are better then the ones downstairs . Staff looked after our luggage well - Gracias!
The pillows and matress had plastic protectors on them… good for keeping them clean but not very comfortable to sleep in.

Verified review2nd visit to Hostal Mochica. Great location for Plaza North terminal (buses) and straight road to airport. Secure, comfortable and clean. Had Netflix too. Loads of restaurants and street food only 5 minutes walk. Smartfit gym, 30 mins walk. If at any time I return to Lima I would stay here.
There are some reviews that mention the area doesn't feel safe. I understand why they may say that but it is well policed and I personally didn't feel that way at all.

Verified reviewGood location for airport and close to a large Mall with a great food Court. Didn't expect to have Netflix, bonus. Found a small gym only 500m away. WiFi was good. Perfect for a 3 day stop in Lima. Passing through Lima again soon and will try to book here.
Didn't bother me but room may be a bit small for a couple. Internal room so no view at all, but for what I paid I can't complain about that. Bed was good but pillows were a bit weird. Plastic covers on them.

Verified reviewFor me I like this place as its close to the airport and walking distance to the bus station in Plaza Norte. It's secure and I don't have to worry about my belongings when I go out. Its only 20 soles on Uber if you want to go to the centre of town but would try to avoid peak hours. The wifi is good and always plenty of hot water in the shower. The beds are comfortable and the rooms a decent size. Probably a 10 minute walk to Plaza Norte where you can get coffee and breakfast. We flew into Lima and caught the bus to Hauraz so this was the cheapest way and well worth the money. Nice people at the reception - some might test your Spanish but you will get a good result.
I'm not sure about walking late at night around the area but just get Ubers as they are very cheap and secure. It's not the Hilton but comfortable clean and to me, well worth the money. One thing more, ask for a room facing towards the backstreet as we had a bit of traffic noise at the front - it did not bother us but other people might not like it.

Verified reviewBeen in Peru for some years and best value hotel that I have stayed at yet near the airport. Very clean room and appealing. Huge modern mall is a ten minute walk. No coffee or food in the morning, but lady with food cart across the street serves both save Sundays. Kind and responsive management.
Not a great area, but not a bad one, but such is the area around the airport and most of Lima in general. Safe in the day but would not wander around drunk late at night. Internet was ok but not as good as some of the reviews. Seems to be a general issue, hower, in most of Peru the last year.

Verified reviewWe were travelling to Hauraz after flying into Lima and decided to stay here as its close to terminal Norte bus station. We have stayed in this area before so know its not the best but we found it so easy to grab an Uber to take us into the city at night. It's also just round the corner from Plaza Norte and the huge market which is also very handy as we bought Sim Card there. The hotel is clean and it felt very secure and I did not have reservations about leaving our stuff when going out. The room was nice and big and the bed was really comfortable. The wife worked really well and there was no issues with the hot water - always plenty when I wanted a shower. It's not the Hilton but I think it was really good value for the price and I would stay here again. They also had a laundry service for 5 soles a kilo which I thought was exceptional value. The receptionist spoke very limited English but was nice and friendly. We were able to communicate and get the washing sorted.
I'm not a great fan of the area but we have stayed in this area twice now. It's very handy for the bus and airport and feels quite safe during the day to walk around.
