Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PeruAlthough we liked it all, visitors should be aware that the place is close to the water so at night there will be bugs all around, they were not annoying to us tho :)
Lorena, the host, was amazing and made us feel at home every day while we were there. Breakfast was tasty and they were preparing it earlier than usual as we had early morning tours. We felt very connected with the nature and spent amazing days.

United KingdomNeighbours still play loud music.
The hosts were exceptionally, they welcomed me like family, were really available and flexible and accompanied me on trips o wanted to do to the jungle. The food was great thay they prepared. Excellent English language skills. The lodge is covered in paintings as they are both artists which made it feel full of life. The rooms was clean and cleaned regularly. It was relatively quiet compared to Iquitos but still close to Iquitos and the airport. Fan was provided. Mostly I was just blown away by the hosts themselves, wonderful and caring people.

United StatesWhile the hotel offers tranquility and fresh air along the river, it’s worth noting that it’s located a bit farther from the center of town. For us, this was a major plus, as the town center can be noisy and filled with tuk-tuk traffic. Here, you’re closer to the peaceful forest and can truly appreciate the natural surroundings. On one of the nights we stayed, there was a celebration happening nearby, which brought some noise. It felt like an out-of-the-ordinary occurrence rather than something to expect regularly. If you’re looking for a super modern, luxury hotel, this may not fit that bill, but if you’re after an authentic, family-run, rustic jungle experience, it doesn’t get better than this. The warmth, care, and thoughtful details offered by Pablo and his family more than make up for any minor inconveniences.
Staying at this family-run hotel in Iquitos was a truly special experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed by Pablo and his family, whose kindness and hospitality are unforgettable. The property is perfectly situated away from the hustle and bustle of town, offering a peaceful retreat with fresh air and breathtaking views of the Amazon River and jungle. The hammocks overlooking the river became our favorite spot to relax and watch the sunset — an experience that felt magical. The rooms are simple, with rustic wooden finishes that give an authentic local feel. Pablo went above and beyond to make our stay seamless, from helping with our bags to driving us to the airport at 5 a.m. with a smile. It’s rare to find this level of care in hospitality, and it truly made our stay unforgettable. If you’re looking for an immersive, local experience with heartwarming family hospitality, this place is it.

United StatesBreakfast was not consistant. I personally would prefer a fresh continental breakfast every morning, juice, bread and butter/jam and coffee.
Pablo and his young team made us feel very comfortable and answered all of our questions. They were very friendly and respectful, and helped us find the services we needed. It is a great place to relax...

United Statesi liked the authenticness of the lodge as we could see the neighbors fishing in the river daily. i enjoyed walking along the river to enjoy nature. The lodge was unique and exactly what i wanted in a jungle feel type lodge. A friend had purchased a small piece of land nearby so we could stay very close by. Not too hot but very enjoyable to have a few beers in Santo Tomás on the street in the shade

AustraliaWe unfortunately had to cut our stay short due to SKY Air cancelling / changing our flight and we’re really disappointed we couldn’t spend more time here! Casa Kukama is a special place well worth the visit. We loved the room, having a swim I. The lagoon and the local neighbourhood is friendly and with great fresh fish and juane cooked up on the street in the evening. Thanks 🙏

GermanyIt is a bit hard there to get food as there isn’t a supermarket or restaurants around. But if you ask for dinner or drinks, they will be provided at the lodge!
It’s a beautiful lodge right at the river. It’s quite far away (about 30 minutes drive from plaza de armas) but this was what I was looking for to have some piece and quite. I really liked the rooms but the best part about it was the staff and the family running the lodge. Everyone put a lot of effort into making me feel comfortable and at home.

The hosts were more than lovely, helping out with everything: food, transport....The location is beautiful next to the river, where you can swim and chat (depending on your Spanish) with the local kids, the hammock on your private balcony is amazing, the dogs were sweet but most of all the host and owners were amazing, had a great day trip tour arranged by them too.

United KingdomIt is true that there can be load until late in the night due to the parties that are held by the river. However, I liked that as it is part of their Culture, but I can understand that not everybody would be OK with that.
Pablo the owner is an authentic ambassador of the Kukama Culture. He is very engange socially to support and educate the people in his community. He is a very inspiring person. The Casa Kukama Lodge is a project to support the community. Before Covid he has there a school to teach children the Kukama language.
