How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewStaff was very friendly and breakfast pretty good. If you’re young and looking for a hostel near bars and don’t care much about noise/ cleanliness this would be a good place to stay! Another plus is the beds have curtains and individual lights/ plugs.
It’s in a noisy area and they don’t have any quiet hours so there’s no culture of people being quiet in the rooms (unless it was just mine) but the worst part to me was the bathroom- it seemed like there was only one to share with the whole floor and it was a mixed male/ female shower (only two stalls)

Wifi wasn’t working anywhere in the hostel. The private room are very small, mine had clumps of hair on the floor when i first checkin, so not mine. As for the private external bathroom, well it’s a private cubicle stall that only you can use, but not at all private since it’s a cubicle in the the complet shared bathroom. You’ll share the sink, you’ll be with others people. You cannot leave your soap or toothbrush. It was a little bit misleading in my opinion. The shower was also dirty. Overall, don’t stay there if you want a private room and private bathroom. You’ll get something much better for about the same price somewhere else.

While it is designated for exclusive use by the guest of the private room, it is indeed located within the shared bathroom area something we’ll make clearer in our listing to avoid any misunderstandings. The karaoke party on the rooftop didn’t let me sleep until 2am as there were always people on the stairway close to the dorm

This hostel is very dirty. The rooms have a stench, and the bathrooms were unclean. The beds are also uncomfortable.

There was only one functioning toilet for two dorms. Other floors are locked so you can not go and use those either if the one toilet is occupied. When I arrived during the night there was no running water so I could not even use the toilet or anything else. I had to go buy bottled water to at least brush my teeth. Showers were very dirty and standing water that would not drain.

Verified reviewThe hostel was nice and colorful, with a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The location was excellent—very close to shopping centers and the beach, which made it easy to explore the area. The beds had privacy curtains, which was a great touch and made it easy to enjoy some personal space. Our room also had a private bathroom, which was convenient, although the floor was often wet due to several people sharing it. Breakfast was fresh and a pleasant way to start the day. The bar also seemed like a cozy and enjoyable spot to hang out.

One whole toilet for one floor, seems the second toilet wasn’t working. 3 day-stay and didn’t get fixed. I arrived after a long day of touring out of Lima and there was no water to take a shower, seems there was a problem in the whole area (what they told me).

Verified reviewThe only nice thing I can highlight about this place is the good vibe, the friendliness, and the cleanliness of the bar and its staff, who were mostly volunteers, from what I saw when talking to them.
It was my most disappointing experience during my stay in Lima, from the receptionist and her lack of communication and empathy in providing me with adequate information. In addition, the receptionists on duty kept passing the word about my complaint to the other staff, making me feel even more uncomfortable with the vibe and lack of cordiality. On top of that, the internet was down, with insufficient signal anywhere and cutting out constantly. Finally, on my last night of my stay, the hotel ran out of water and the bathrooms were so filthy that it was impossible to use them for sanitary reasons. The hotel lacks coordination and communication among its staff and is not prepared to provide a quality and comfortable stay. In case of an emergency, they just tell you to wait and wait. Meanwhile, they don't return the money they charge per night out of courtesy, even though they know they are failing in their service. The price isn't worth paying for what they offer, as it's a hostel that's quite lacking in cleanliness, with some broken amenities like the bathroom and toilet doors, and a lack of empathy for local guests. When I spoke to the manager, there was no solution, refund, or apology offered. He only managed to say, "Unfortunately, I arrived at a time when the services were failing." I definitely don't recommend it at all !
