Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandHow we got there was a little difficult as the inner gullies are tight. We would recommend calling the site before reaching. Will save you time and avoid getting lost. The breakfast could be improved.
Prime location, we could walk down to the Nizwa fort and the main market. It’s a small site but gives you the village vibe with a great staff.

AustriaAldar Inn is at a perfect location directly behind the Fort Nizwa and in the middle of the old town. However, through this location you also need to expect narrow streets and the parking was quite full when we arrived. Our room was very nicely equipped with appealing decorations, earthy colors and in traditional Omani style and materials. The best thing about the hotel is the garden and the pool area, where you can chill and relax. However, there is no bar or restaurant, so better to go out for coffee and snacks, as many other options are available in walking distance.

MaltaI had an amazing stay at Al Dar inn! The place was exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean. The Omani staff were wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I’d love to return in the future.

I loved the location and the style of the hotel very typical nice architecture. Lovely garden for breakfast . 3 minutes from main attraction. Nice room decoration. Lovely staff.

RussiaThe breakfast was tasteless, with a very poor choice of dishes. The cut fruits were sandy. In general, the hygiene in the hotel leaves much to be desired. The room was not clean. The floor in the shower room was covered in hair. The toilet was leaking. It is physically impossible to tidy yourself up in a sanitary block organized in such a way. Some of the lamps in the room burned out.
A colourful hotel styled as a traditional Omani house. Very convenient location - next to Nizwa Fort. The hotel is very easy to find when traveling around the city and the surrounding area.

IrelandThe male staff member that checked us in was not very warm, he made the experience unpleasant by his cold demeanour. I met a lady later in the evening who smiled and said hello and the porter that took us to our room was also very welcoming.

SwitzerlandThe use of single-use cups for breakfast and the limited selection of sweet options, including the quality of the fruit, could be improved.
Located in beautiful, traditional courtyard-style buildings, we stayed in a tasteful and spacious room. Breakfast was served outdoors on the property and offered a decent selection of food, primarily savory options. The property is two steps away from the Nizwa fort and has parking, which was very convenient, although access is via a narrow unpaved road.

SwitzerlandWe had to pay quite a lot for early check-in, but at least they allowed it. At breakfast there were not many options, but having seen other places it seems average in Oman. Would recommend having breakfast in one of the nice cafes in the city
New facilities with traditional Omani style, quite a big room and comfortable bed, we slept very well. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Location is great, very close to the souk and fort, Nizwa is quite small so you can easily reach everything

United KingdomNo glass at the window or mosquito screen. If you want the Aircon on then the blinds need to be shut, as there is no glass. Very strange. The room was not automatically cleaned without me putting a sign outside requesting it to be cleaned. This is not usual for a European, and as I had not been told about this I didn't do it (the hotel did clean the room immediately after I asked them to). Breakfast was in a room that gets very hot and one of the Aircon units wasn't working. Also there were no staff keeping an eye on the breakfast room, so when the plates ran out we had to go and find someone. Booked a room with a view but had to request a room change as the view was parked cars. The hotel we're very helpful to make sure I was happy.
The gardens were lovely and the proximity to the Fort and souq were an easy walk. The room was comfortable and the bed was nice and very clean. We got a bit lost in the local roads and had to leave our car. The hotel staff rescued it for us!

United Arab EmiratesMinor ambiance points which can be easily improved on, and which had nil impact on our stay and enjoyment: - white light bulbs in the inner building hallways, rather than yellow toned ones for added ambiance; - plastic plants used inside the building; - I have passed on above feedback to the team, I trust they'll easily improve on this. I was pleased they were keen to receive my feedback.
- Location! Fabulous, 1 min walk to the fort. Located in ancient Nizwa heritage quarter. Set on an unpaved road, which adds to the special ambiance of Aldar Inn. Surrounded by palm groves. Lots of commerce nearby for convenience cafes, sandwich shops, groceries. - The property: three separate buildings, the reception hall, the garden, the palm grove, swimming pool - such a pleasant beatiful setting. - Room comfort: value for money. Toilet amenities provided (tooth brush, sopa, shampoo, etc...) comfortable bed and pillows. View to the garden and palm grove. Nice ambiance, with a vintage chic touch. - The lawn was so pleasant to sit on, with a majlis kind of mat where we sat on to have a meal. - The swing! - Front house staff were impeccable: courteous, kind, attentive and professional. I travelled w my 5 yr old daughter, they were so kind, offering treats to her, and really making my single parenting easier w their special touches. They really made my time at Aldar memorable. Thank you Mohamed, Ms Shayma and Yusuf! Cleaning staff and gardener were also very pleasant.
